there's a hostage standoff going on in downtown pittsburgh on the 16th floor of pittsburgh's gateway center. witnesses say that a man with a gun and two duffel bags on that floor, police are telling us that man is apparently holding two people hostage. earlier our affiliates talked with a woman who managed to escape the 16th floor of that building. let's listen. >> were working and a young woman that works on our floor in that company came running into our office yelling to call 911, and lock the door. we didn't know, you know, so i immediately called 911, but handed the phone to her. because i didn't know what was happening. so i really just dialed the phone and handed it to her. and she reported to 911 that there was a man, she thought they were being robbed. a man walked in, went out -- she said she wasn't in her front desk. she was back in the office. she sensed something was wrong, looked at her dad and her dad said get security right away and that's when she ran into our office to call 911. >> as you might expect, police are keeping reporters far, far away from the gateway cent

pittsburgh 53, 58 in burlington, 64 in boston today. they had a sense of an inch of snow on friday night over the weekend in duluth, that is the earliest measurable snowfall they have had in many years up there. it modifies as it moved to washington. we have a high-pressure overhead giving us beautiful sunshine. we are on the cool side of that with an orderly flow. we had a cool wind out of the northwest. on the west side of it we have the warm flow, which is up the midsection of the country. is all high-pressure system will slide east. as it does, the warm flow area will move over washington, so temperatures will rise a little over the next couple days. low 80's by wednesday. there's a cold front off to our north that will drop in slowly late on wednesday into thursday. that gives us a slight chance of showers wednesday and thursday. here's the express forecast. in the 60's for the majority of us today. in the 40's tonight for most of us. a few degrees warmer tomorrow. the warmest we will get his wednesday in the low 80s. chance of sho

from the 16th floor of one of these high rise buildings at a complex in pittsburgh. at latest report, two people apparently being held hostage by this person. again, with a criminal background, though not irrational quote/unquote according to the police officer, the chief of police who just briefed reporters. but we can say this, doesn't appear that this is a domestic situation, according to the police. but it does appear that this suspect knew who he was looking for. and went looking for that person in particular. but at this point, why there may be two people being held hostage, it is unclear. what is clear is that the police are in contact with this suspect, they are communicating and they have been able to at least get his mother on location. which, by the way, a very strong hostage negotiating tactic when you can get a relative or a loved one to make contact with a hostage taker. we're going to continue to watch this story and continue to see as developments come in we will bring them to you, as well. in the meantime we have other big news that is happening. not

taking place in a pittsburgh downtown building. a gunman took several people hostage in a scene that lasted more than four hours. they're not sure yet why the 22-year-old man picked this location. but as police tried to talk to the hostage-taker, he was talking to people on facebook, posting status updates. he raised concerns from family and friends saying they would never have to worry about him again, and that he lost everything. he wrote on facebook, he couldn't take it anymore, and i'm done. defense attorney holly hughes is here, now holly, nobody got hurt. that is good news, didn't really make any demands. criminal suspects have called family and friends before during a crime. but this is a conversation we could all see. it is interesting, so what? i don't know, is this conversation protected on line? can it -- >> no, it is not legally protected. it is out there, it is public. and you know i read this story and i read it a couple of times, don, because i wanted to make sure, i got all the facts. and it sounds to me like this m

it was at buchanan park in pittsburgh. his family is struggling to understand the brutality of his murder. >> he's a well-behaved kid. he has a lot of love in him. and the sad thing about it is his little brothers and sisters were there when this all unfolded. >> police tell us devon and about five other people were about to begin filming at buchanan park when two other people walked up to them and an argument broke out. investigators say devon's group started running in different directions to get away. police tell us devon george was shot in the back. it happened to broad daylight and investigators say they have two suspects they are looking for and they have pretty good leads. there are surveillance cameras at the park and detectives are now going over video from the cameras as part of the investigation. police have not released any information on their two suspects. his uncle said the 18-year-old had been producing music since he was six years old and recently was getting some positive attention. >> making songs and me
