a truck smashed into a power pole on san jose avenue. the ktvu lorraine blanco just go there at the scene so what do you know, lorraine? >> reporter: dave, i just got off the phone with the media representative from pg& e. he told me that 260 customers are without power right now and it's because of what you see behind me. we are near the intersection of almadon expressway and son jose avenue. a car hit that power pole at 5:21:00 a.m. they say the driver fled the scene. at one point as many as 3500 customers did not have power. pg& e says it's a mix of homes and businesses affected here. you can see police closed off several blocks on san jose avenue as well as omaden expressway while crews work to fix this problem. unfortuntely there's no estimate on when power will be restored but as you can see it's still quite a mess out here, power lines down, power pole down and that car is still butted up against that power pole. again no estimate yet on when power will be restored out here. reporting live, lorraine blanco, ktvuchannel 2 news. >>

jose city council and the police union have been at odds over the perception of a crime in san jose. tonight there will be two meetings aggressing the crime issues in the city. there is a 7:00 study session on the police is response to the recent crimes and to gang activity and built union and some city groups will hold a prime convention meeting this evening and it is worth noting that san jose was once the city labeled as america's safest big city but recently that is not the case anymore. >> a family is hoping for signs of a san mateo man who mysteriously vanished over the weekend. a retired firefighter was at traveling on amtrak to visit family in montreal. he was last seen near omaha nebraska by a conductor who said he appeared disoriented. >> if he was disoriented he could have fallen at all and he could be on the side of the track somewhere. >> his family says he was taking medication for heart problems and diabetes. he was scheduled to transfer trains in chicago. >> the battle over the estate of thomas kincaid continues in a court room. it pits his girlfriend against an estra
