our deb feyerick has been working that part of the story. she's outside of the lanza home with more details on that ainng. >> reporter: a number of investigators are on scene right now looking at whatever they can that remains inside the house. one of the big problems about the investigation, ashleigh, authorities are confirming in fact the computer that belonged to adam lanza was in fact smashed. so they are having difficulty re-creating all of the forensic information. we want to talk to you about a conversation with the medical examiner, h. wayne carver. he confirms to cnn toxicology tests were performed on the body of adam lanza to determine whether in fact he was on any kinds of medication that may have triggered the violent outburst. though the medical examiner was told that in fact he has aspergers, the medical examiner's being extra careful, trying to determine that's all going on this young man and trying to see if there was something deeper, something pathological, psychiatric. the bodies of the mom and son, autopsies were complete

deb feyerick, thank you very much. as deb is reporting, pretty significant development that nancy lanza had been away. it was confirmed she stayed at the hotel in new hampshire and checked out around 12:00 noon on thursday. it was a four and a half hour drive, so she would have gotten home when it was dark the evening before she died. i want to bring in lieutenant paul vance with the connecticut state police. he's the lead spokes man, you've seen him speaking many times. it's been a very difficult job to have to update the world on what he knows. he joins me on the phone now with the latest. i appreciate it, we all do because everyone wants to understand what happened here. we have confirmed as you just heard, that nancy lanza was away in the days before the shooting. what can you tell us about her relationship with her son? >> i think what's important is to make sure that everyone understands that our investigators, our state police detectives have to take every piece of information and confirm it. ensure that it's to

deb feyerick is live for us there in newtown with more on that. deb, what are you learning? >> reporter: well, brooke, we can tell you investigators were here at the home for about an hour or so this afternoon. they pulled out just a little while ago. they have been returning to the house periodically as they get new leads and as they get wind of new developments. we don't know what exactly those are. we can tell you we have confirmed with the medical examiner that in fact toxicology tests were performed on adam lanza. those toxicology reports expected back in about two weeks and at that point, the doctors will know better whether he had any sort of drugs in his system. and what those drugs may have been. whether he may have been taking any sort of drugs for psychological problems, or any illegal medications as well. the medical examiner was told by investigators that lanza had asperger's syndrome and the medical examiner is trying to really run that to the ground to see whether in fact there was something else that may have been going on, some other psychiatric problem that
