how is it looking out there, erica? >> we do have a very thin coating of snow basically throughout the area and in gaithersburg. i see about an inch here on the ground. and you can see that the sidewalk is completely covered and the main road behind me is route 355. that is just wet because the plows have been out and they have been putting down the salt. however, as rush hour winds down and the traffic starts to slow down, i think we will see some refreezing because right now, it is the tires and all the activity on the road that is keeping the temperatures above freezing on the roadway itself. on side streets, you can see the difference. there is a light coating of slush here on our side street, which is westland drive and like i said before, we are here in gaithersburg. the snow started early in the afternoon and has continued. it was steady earlier. it tapered off a little bit. we still have a light snow shower out here right now. but i also see the moon up in the sky. so i know that clearing is starting to move in.
