ninth homicide in san jose this year. you can see it's still a very active crime scene. the homicide investigation team is on the way and they will take over the investigation. police say a 30-year-old man was shot and killed early this morning near the intersection of murtha drive and capitol avenue. police got the call just before 4:30 from a neighbor who saw a man lying on the side of the road. >> we had a neighbor leave tore work. she saw a person down on the sidewalk. wasn't sure what it was. called her husband. half hour after that he went to work, saw the same thing. thought it wasn't somebody passed out and he called the police. >> reporter: police arrived and found the victim shot in the chest. he was pronounced dead at the scene. at this point, police are canvassing the area and are speaking with neighbors. at this point, they have made no arrests. live in san jose, elissa harrington, kpix 5. >> do they have a motive or any idea how this guy got killed? >> reporter: police don't have a motive but they have spoke

this morning, san jose police telling us a deadly stabbing in san jose's almaden valley neighborhood appears ton an isolated incident. officers found a man in his early 20s stabbed to death near the entrance of guadalupe oak grove park yesterday afternoon. last night, homicide investigators combed through the neighborhood looking for any kind of evidence and trying to track down witnesses who may have been around at the time of the event. but so far, nobody under arrest. and police have not yet released a description of any potential suspect. >>> new details about two separate stabbings in san francisco overnight. police say in the first stabbing, it happened about 2:20 this morning on mission street near the 16th street b.a.r.t. station. here's a map to give you some perspective. a man in his 30s was taken to san francisco general hospital with at least one stab wound. then about an hour later, a man was stabbed near the intersection of 26th and folsom streets. he's listed in serious condition, also at san francisco general. police don't think the two stabbings are related. >>> comi

this morning san jose police are trying to figure out how a missing elderly san jose man ended up dead in his own apartment. the 69 year old was found stabbed to death hyde inside the hill top manor senior hill apartments near highway 87. this morning police say they do have someone in custody related to the death of stanley jacobson but they're not saying who it is or how they might be related to the killing. a few weeks ago when jacobson was first reported missing, police were reportedly looking for regina butler. neighbors say butler was jacobson's girlfriend. one neighbor says he saw butler being led away by officers in handcuffs. police say jacobson's family found his body yesterday morning on the floor of his apartment but just how long his body was there still a question they are trying to answer. >> what were the people with him doing? were they trying to exploit him financial? trying to target him? the person in custody will be interviewed and give a statement on what led up to this. >> the killing is san jose's eighth homicide of the year. >>> san jose police are also releasi

"today in the bay's" bob redell is live in san jose. he has more details on this morning's camp removal. bob, good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, jon. we spoke to one man who lives here and he is going to pack up but he's hoping the city might give all of them here at this encampment on spring street a reprieve of a day or two. the point man on homeless encampments for the city told us they plan on clearing out this area around 9:00. to give you lay of the land, we're on spring street between taylor and heading. basically between the rose garden and the airport. you have this large swath of land that's owned by the city but it's undeveloped and within the past few months there's been an explosion in the number of people coming here with their tents because there was another homeless encampment in town that was shut down so a lot of people migrated here. what makes this encampment different from other encampments is that it is in the wide open. it's unsightly. the city argues that it is unsanitary. and there's also concern ab

reporting live in san jose, marianne favro, nbc bay area news. >>> san jose police also have a suspect in custody in connection with wednesday's homicide. police arrested vincent in connection with the killing of 27-year-old eric wright. wright's body was found at guadeloupe oak grove. the park is located in a quiet neighborhood where violent crime is unusual. wright was found with multiple stab wounds. >>> within the last few hours an engineer has been found guilty in the shooting death of his former bosses. this afternoon a santa clara county jury convicted wu of fatally shooting three executives at the semiconductor startup siport. it took place hours after wu had been fired. wu's attorney says his client experienced a psychotic flashback due to abuse he suffered from communism in had his native china. prosecutors argued it was an act of revenge. now the same jury that convicted him must decide whether he was too mentally ill to be held legally responsible. if he's found insane, wu will be sent to a state mental hospital. if not, he'll be sentenced to life in prison without parole.
