i'm brooke baldwin. busy morning of developments. let's begin with investigators looking into a bizarre and fascinating possibility that his older brother, a devout muslim, with fundamental beliefs may have funded attacks by peddling illegal drugs. the father of dzhokhar and tamerlan say terrorists are threatening the family in southern russia. both his sons are innocent and that they were somehow framed. their mother takes it one step farther, she believes this bloody crime scene here in boston was no more than a lot of smoke. actors, she says, played the main victims, and the blood was nothing more than paint. this from the suspected bombers here. much more on that in a moment. first, russian president vladimvladmir putin urging closer cooperation with the united states and this follows concern that by some that u.s. intelligence agencies failed to follow through on concerns from russia. russia asked americans to investigate tamerlan tsavraev because he appeared to be sliding into islamic extremism. th

. >> good morning, i'm brooke baldwin. it is a real-life tragedy for the reality show cast this morning a favorite on mtv it's called "buckwild." and this young man, 21-year-old shain gandee was found dead. first reported missing sunday night, gandee and two others, one of whom was his uncle, were found dead inside a ford bronco on monday. so this truck was partially submerged in mud in a wooded area of kanawha county in west virginia. and nischelle turner is live for us in los angeles to sort of unravel some of these details. what do we know this morning? >> well, things are becoming a little bit clearer, brooke. like you said you mentioned the truck was found partially submerged in mud and the muffler was under the mud. that could lead us to a little bit of a clue into what happened here. the sheriff's department tells us that gandee was found dead monday in a wooded area in west virginia. they did find the body of his 48-year-old uncle and a third victim, 27-year-old donald robert myers. the cause of death still under i

i'm fredricka whitfield in for brooke baldwin. we have a developing story out of north texas. these two prisoners are on the loose this hour. the one on the right is being held on a charge of capital murder. his name is brian alan tucker. john marlon king on the left was being held for allegedly evading a theft charge. they escaped from the hopkins county jail northeast of kaufman county, which is reeling from the murders of two prosecutors. sergeant brad cummings is with the hopkins county sheriff's office. how and when did the men escape? >> officers were advised this morning about 8:20 that we did have two males later identified as tucker and king that apparently they were on the recreation yard and they were able to manipulate the fencing area and slip through a part of the fence. and they took off east of the sheriff's office. >> well, you know, that's quite detailed in how you believe it happened. but one has to wonder, how could something like that happen in a place that is known to have high security? >> that's correct. yo

i'm fredricka whitfield in for brooke baldwin. the chief prosecutor in houston is under 24 hour protection. and law enforcement officials across the state of texas are treading with caution today after the second recent murder of one of their own. tough talking prosecutor mike mclelland was found dead sunday morning. mclelland's wife was slain as well. their bodies were found at their home in kaufman county, the same texas county where assistant d.a. mark hasse was shot dead back in january. hasse's murder in broad daylight prompted this challenge to the killers by the now dead mclelland. >> i hope that the people that did this are watching because we're very confident that we're going to find you, we're going to pull you out of whatever hole you're in, we're going to bring you back and let the people of kaufman county prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law. >> law enforcement officials including the fbi want to know if the killings were linked and whether white supremacists may have been involved here. recent indictments

. >> and good morning, i'm brooke baldwin in new york. it's 5:00 a.m. on the east. >> and here in boston, it really is all hands on deck as authorities investigate those twin bomb blasts right near the finish line of the boston marathon. this is what we know at this moment. the explosions killed three people including an 8-year-old boy. 8-year-old boy identified by the "boston globe" as martin richards of dorchester. his mother and sister also hurt. there were 144 total people hurt, 17 in critical condition this morning, 5 in serious condition. the fbi is now taking the lead in this investigation. there is no motive, no one is in custody, they say. but authorities are said to be pursuing several active leads. overnight they executed a search warrant at an apartment in raveer, massachusetts. the first explosion happened at 2:50 p.m., four hours and nine minutes into the race. the second explosion came 15 seconds later. this is what it looked like. this is what it sounded like. you can see it right there. people on the scene witnessing the carnage. they s

. >> brooke baldwin. now to deb freyerick, watertown. covering the latest developments, we had images on watertown on delay in case there was violence not appropriate to be broadcast. what are you learning? >> another reason why on delay and something we were concerned about. you never want to give away positioning, strategy or logistics of an operation. we do know in the last couple of minutes actually, number of people pulled out. there were folks in military fatigues, atf, fbi, caravan of 20 vehicles pulled out. all loaded with people. this area cooling down as people pulled back. we don't know what happened there. trying to get the information. not clear why there was so much activity so quickly. reported earlier, and we smelled smoke. and the helicopter circled overhead and the person i was speaking with, the one thing we want to emphasize and this is very, very serious, that is nobody knows the context of what these two people were doing and with whom we may have been doing this with? have you two individuals who created a relative

brooke baldwin joins us from boylston street. what's the mood there? >> i think normal still isn't quite the right word. we're just across the street from where you're standing in copley square. this is the heart of the back bay, something i haven't seen in the week and a half here, traffic. we're standing, anderson, in the middle of this memorial which was on the edge of boylston. now take a look around. we are surroundsed by people. people who are bostonians, people who just wanted to come here to pay their respects, flowers, red sox hats, running shoes and three crosses for the victims who lost their lives. just down the road is where those two blasts went off. i personally walked it this morning. we have some video we can show of workers laying down fresh concrete and working on the trees. just out of respect for the lives that were lost at that location, i just don't want to walk around down there. that's what's happening just a stone throw from where i am. walk with me this way. this is amanda. i noticed you because this is emotional for you as i
