he also does buddy holly johnny cash and prince impersonations now paul kevin curtis has made his intentions of the letters clear he believes that he uncovered a conspiracy to sell human body parts on the black market he also claims that the f.b.i. and various parties within the government are trying to ruin his reputation and are using drones to spy on him and yet another strange twist it turns out that senator wicker confirmed today that he actually hired mr curtis to do impersonations at a party that he and his wife were hosting just a few years back an additional letter was also sent to a mississippi judge earlier in the week now the letters tested positive for a poisonous substance known as rice in now for those of you who don't know this is a substance that is actually derived from the castor plant that's the same plant that's used to make castor oil there is no known antidote for rice and it's extremely deadly deadly when it's actually inhaled the letters did not actually reach the hands of the president or the senator mr curtis has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder in the past and

we do know authorities have searched the home of the man who allegedly feuded with paul kevin curtis. nbc news capitol hill correspondent kelly o'donnell joins us now. where does the investigation now shift? >> reporter: part of what was fascinating about this is the attorney for the man we just saw who was released said there were things in the letters that were sent that did point to him. and she suggested that it might be this other person who has been known to have a feud with kevin who was just released. the issue here is another had his home searched. no charges filed. there was this question of might he have had information known to him through social media and so forth that might have been a possible way to frame the other man. all of this is still being looked at and it is kind of in the realm of the bizarre when you talk about the elvis impersonator and you can see a bit of that in the side burn and tone of voice. you see him profess his devotion to the country and wouldn't do this but his own attorney acknowledged some of what were in the letters sent to the president, miss

tonight in mississippi, a federal magistrate released paul kevin curtis. tonight prosecutors dropped all charges against him in connection with those letters containing ricin that went to president obama and mississippi senator roger wicker last week. curtis, an occasional elvis impersonator, had been arrested on charges of sending those letters, but investigators say the fbi found no evidence of ricin when they searched his home. he's been in jail since last week. today the fbi also searched a second mississippi location. the tupelo home of an man named j. everett duchky. he's an acquaintance and sometime adversary of curtis. he also says he's innocent. another incident, the defense intelligence agencies say alarms went off today at a mail facility at bolling air base here in washington indicating the possible presence of dangerous toxins. further tests found no specific package related to those alarms, so they're taking more samples. bottom line, the fbi clearly got the wrong man in the first case and whoever is sending these letters may still be out the
