and we must demand a pathway to citizenship in our society for every american and every san franciscan. and this san francisco of the 21 accounting century requires a violation and move our workers around the city reliablely and efficiently. and, yes i'm talking about our public transit system. i'm talking about all our transportation systems. and one day high-speed rail. i know it's frustrating to push your way onto a overcrowded bus. i know you were frustrated in the past to reach your jobs late. i'm proud to say there's changes on the way and the nation largest addition is once again focused on operations and inviting a maintenance system. this year new hybrid buses will hit the streets. 60 new trillion buses are on the way and 1 hundred and 50 the vehicles will be over hauled. we'll see more at the time of the accidents on our streets. last year the mta adopted a new budget for a state of new repair investments. and no fair increases. last year, we secured $940,000 to complete the system. and this year we'll be starting an underground project. we're wraping up a project to follow t

they would like nothing better to hire san franciscans but they often struggle to find their candidates. and it's clear to me the only way our city will continue to be strong is if we support the improvement of our city schools. in many cities they choose to address the keegs challenges by picking fights and appointing fingers but once again not in 90 san francisco. together we strive for excellence in our public schools not excused. last year, i met with our community leaders the first time in our memories the mayor and others and we all agree that technology, expediting our kids earlier with the expectation for college and seth them to in our economies is the keys key to success and we're making progress. san francisco unified continues to be the hive urban development are high. we've seen double digit high-grades among our latin and africa kids >> results are being recognized for our achievement we received a federal grab the to bring job training in our mission neighborhood. the supervisor knows about this. these gains are possible because reforms are underway the partnership are in

i am a born and raised san franciscan. more important, i represent district 2. i grew up in the marina district close to the palace of fine arts. my parents still live in the same set of plants that i live in. i went to grammar school here. i went to st. ignatius here. i am a proud wild cat. i went to college at loyola- marymount university in los angeles. i had a scholarship to play baseball. i remember coming down here to christie field, when my dad was in the military, seeing how the beaches have transformed into but we have today. you cannot beat the views, of course. it just holds summoning memories and i can come here with our kids, our family. i ended up going to ireland to get a master's degree at the university college of dublin. i went back to the states and went to law school at university of pennsylvania. then i came back, and choosing to live in san francisco was natural to me. when you are a child, you do not realize what you had until you leave home. i had the opportunity to live in los angeles, abroad in ireland, and there is no place like home,

the fact it, it's free to san franciscans the upkeep of a garden in san francisco we unique. we have 11 workers that we have assigned and we have about three to four gardeners in the parks. there's a lot of staff that is assigned to the botanical garden. when we were in our worse times it was a controversial decision agreed to a non-resident fee for people investing san francisco and it was similarly our japanese garden. the botanical garden is free speech for san franciscan resident. it was a community comprises we're proud to have it but if we lose that fee it will impact our budget the numbers are up and they're working on their sustainable nursey. thanks >> just some follow-up questions. i know your finishing up but since supervisor farrell brought it up i want some clarity around the expense of managing the garden overall vs. the revenue it's taking in or maybe that could be brought up at the budget meeting >> the revenue piece doesn't really begin to address the total expenses for the garden alts and the botanical garden vista hundreds of - invests hundreds of thousands

san franciscans for health care justice provides a source of knowledge with the communities that will be most impacted with the cpm c project. collaboration with the city and the community as has been so well demonstrated. thank you. >> linda chapman. i will speak for knob hill neighbors because it was done for other members of our board and urban planners. it's the most brilliant plan and i'm so sorry to see the ways in which it's being breached. heaven knows it's the alternative for greatly reducing the number of beds here. why is it still double the side of the height limit. why does that have to be? there was a land form and consistent and not overwhelming the historic buildings. why are we putting a tunnel under there when it objected long-term for a subway. are we going to build the tunnel deeper. if they didn't want to locate there they didn't have to do it. since they did do it, they can walk across the street like all of us. the parking is good, but it's still too many. previously it was 405 spaces at that site plus the ones in the sutter street building which is part of that

that has an impact here on san franciscans. if the state budget changes, that has an effect here on us. it's important to know that we have control over some of our revenue but not all of them. the mayor shared with you our five-year budget outlook. and mentioned the first two years. this is the fourth chart over with the red and black. the red bars show you how much our expenditures are projected to grow in the next five years and the black bars. we project over the five years we will have 13% more revenue, it's a strong economy. and at the same time our expenditures are expected to grow by 25%. so the gap between the growth in expenditures and revenue is what creates our budget short falls. a significant part of that pressure is related to pressure related to labor costs. including the cost of our health benefits, and retiree benefits. finally i wanted to share, we will hear from you about your experiences, your priorities and information that you think is important for these policy makers to hear. one of the ways we have to

but my name is ben and i'm actually speaking as a concerned native san franciscan. my family ha been here since i was born. we currently live in a rent controlled apartment in nob hill for about 17 years now. whip the last two years in a two-block radius i've seen my friends and neighbors ones who live in my block, they were bought out. and the partvs were actually being convert today tic. ~ and these long-term tenants, their lives were up rooted and my friend who was also living in nob hill, they're actually going through an eviction right now. and it's very stressful to see my mom's friend because they don't know where to go and it's very sad to see this. and unfortunately, there's more buildings in my neighborhood in the pipeline of being converted into condominiums and it's always the constant fear for my family especially my mom because seeing this change happening in our block, it acknowledge reality, it's at a time when my family will be the ones we see eviction notices and my parents seniors will be -- could be facing the exact same situation as mary phillip
