let us start with the right to the san mateo bridge. do not be fooled by what appears to be smooth, flowing traffic. the san mateo bridge is a hot spot. the drive times over 18 minutes across the span. there was an accident near the high rise and it is likely that we will for a while longer continue to see some stop and go conditions even as far back as the toll plaza. even though the accident occurred miles away here by the high-rise section. it takes a long time to the bridge to recover from that kind of problem. for another hot spot we're tracking the right of the east shore freeway which has not improved. the drive times are still nearly 40 minutes. new problems here on 237 west bound and earlier occurring accident backing up the traffic on 280 southbound coming out of milpitas. for your ride in the fremont milk is corridor. the 280 ride through downtown san jose, very slow this morning with a drive time of 23-2 to 4 minutes. just to get you out to cupertino. the 85 interchange at earlier occurring accident at bird avenue is out of

. >>> and if you shop in san mateo county, say good-bye to single use plastic bags. a ban goes into effect today in most areas of the county. kpix 5 reporter cate caugiran is in menlo park this morning with details on how that ban works. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, michelle. we would like to mention that this ban starts off on earth day. so it's an appropriate move for san mateo county especially here in menlo park, where city leaders say people 7 million plastic bags each year. starting today stores in a dozen cities including some unincorporated areas of san mateo county will no longer offer the options of paper or plastic. the board of supervisors approved the plastic bag ban back in october. shoppers are now encouraged to bring in those reusable bags or pay 10 cents fee per paper bag. the bag ban was as a result of reports documenting the negative impact of plastic bags and what they have on our environment and wildlife. the ban will apply in all county retail outlets, including grocery stores, convenience stores and pharmacies as well as other shops

if there is a high wind advisory for the san mateo bridge. a new one has just appeared for the san francisco oakland bay bridge. both of these bridges are under wind advisory. these are issued by caltran and the california highway patrol. >> we're all so a fall in the latest within the bay bridge bolts. kron4 jackie sissel is live from treasure island with an update. >> a new report is out this morning by the san francisco chronicle this is set as early as 2000 a there were reports that caltran had ordered bolts before they were even putting in. in fact, in 2008 caltran ordered the contractor of ohio to test the bolts before they were installed. there were questions about them having cracks before hand. the test were not a man and as we know some of them were as long this 17 ft. long and they're all ultimately put is that when they were tightened that is when a third of them broke. the big question is why they were not tested after the were ordered to be tested. there are other questions and what will happen from this. the engineers are still
