where's the city of oakland? governor brown was formerly the mayor of oakland. he should have something to say because we need to think about these issues in a more comprehensive way. east oakland, last time i was there, is devastated. east mall, a thriving mall, is now just barely operating as a commercial entity. so it sends a message to kids about what's possible for them. and so i just want to make sure that the viewers don't believe -- don't see this simply as a black male problem but recognize that there are pockets of america that have just been left behind. this is one pocket there in oakland. and it's a shame because the bay area is rich with resources. and this is something that we should be able to do something about. >> before we run out of time in our conversation, i want to ask you for people who are looking at this in exactly the way that professor nogueira suggested and said, i care about this issue, what do you expect me to do about it? i'm a middle class white tech entrepreneur in sunnyvale. i've never been through east oakland. i've passed it

we want to look at interstate 880 in oakland and emeryville and oakland. you can see the traffic here is starting off well on some of the bay area's biggest freeways. if you are driving to the 880 freeway here near the coliseum, the traffic is moving well in both directions. we talked about livermore eastbound 580 there was a crash. not causing a huge backup. westbound 580 traffic looks good on the way to castro valley. now let's go to steve. >>> well, we have a very distinct layer of warm air. sot fog has been coming down a little -- so the has been coming down a little bit. you can see about where it is. that is exactly what is happening. we have that again today. the warm air settles down. some of the basis around 500 feet. a little bit of drizzle would not surprise me again. no reports yet. a foggy morning for some. kind of a muggy pattern. the lows are simply not cooling off. water temperatures are very, very warm. mainly 55-60. point rays is 53. i've seen a couple reports at 59 to 60. morning drizzle and mostly sunny and a few high clouds clipping us
