rebecca, were you jumping in there? >> yes, i was going to say i agree with everything greg just said, and i would add to that that we've already seen a lot of this taper and event tightening, pricing into the market. just today the fed funds futures. what the market is implying for short-term rates is to suggest we're going to have a 50 basis point short-term rate by the end of next year. only two weeks ago that wasn't priced until august 2015. the market is bringing a lot forward. i think if the tapering announcement we get is relatively in line with consensus, the market is already getting that discounted ahead of time. so i don't think this has to be a hugely traumatic event for the markets. >> let me make a quick point here. if rebecca is right that the market is anticipating the fed to start tightening within a year, i think bernanke will push back, saying we don't see anything to tell us to raise the federal funds rate. if the market believes him, that could be positive. >> the tapering doesn't mean higher intere

rebecca stevens has the detail. rebecca. >> john we are still getting showers and thunderstorms with subtropical moisture coming up with them. we are going to continue to see this for the next day and a half at least. but something's changing and that is how much moisture is actually coming up from the south. we have plenty of flood warnings impacting parts of colorado but we're starting to see the flash flood watches shift into parts of idaho and staying also in new mexico. when we look at the water vapor loop from the last 48 hours you can clearly see the highest moisture content that bright green color coming up from the southwest where we've had tropical storms moving from the last several weeks. so this thread of moisture coming up from the south being drawn in by an area of low pressure just sitting and rotating over the southwest has made conditions extremely moist the last few days but also the mountains having the winds lift up over them has squeezed out any additional moisture that there was in those storm

. >> i'm metrologist rebecca stevenson. we have been tracking moisture that's been coming along the south portion. tropical storms developing in the atlantic. we have had several in the last week. you can see the systems, along the intertropical convergence zone. moisture from this has been redirected through mexico to the west. we've had a lot of flash flooding because of the moisture flow due to a change of winds for arizona, new mexico and nef. they know it will be wet at the end of the summer because the wind shifts and brings the moisture up. a good way to see the moisture is looking at a satellite enhancing where it is. areas of dark green indicate the highest water content in the atmosphere. you can see the thunder storms, an energy exchange basically in the thunder storms near the equator, and you can see how it taps in, travels up through the south-west, but for the storm that brought the record rain around seattle yesterday - we certainly have a lot of moisture moving in with that from the south-west. we are still

. >> meteorologist: i'm meteorologist rebecca stevenson. we've had snow coming down in the mountains heavy at times especially in central idaho and western montana. where we've got plenty of warnings going on right now. early yesterday morning we had the snow come down around mount rainier. this is a sunrise mountaineer mount rainier up above 6,000 feet. the snow level has got to be fairly high to get snow to stick like this. any lower mountain passes and the snow was pretty quick to melt because the roads are still warm from summertime. as we look at u.s. 93 this is the pass in idaho. the snow levels tonight are down falling to 5,000 feet, and that is where we're going start to see snow accumulating. the valleys in western montana, butte, anaconda, georgetown lake, you're going to get a couple of inches of snow overnight. our concern is its wet snow and wet snow is heavy and can pull down power lines pretty easy. we'll watch for that and warn truckers, hunters, campers, you're going to have wet snow and it will be cold in the mountains ton

the aljazz mission.ç] >> welcome back, i'm meteorologist rebecca stevenson. here we are in the last day of august, and now we've got 22 days left of summertime. here it is lake or day weekend and we've got hot temperatures, and a lot of showers and thunderstorms too, as you can see they are moving in to the northeast. we have a lot of rain that's going to be developing over the northeast. over the remainder of the holliday weekend and some of this rain is going to come down extremely heavy at times. we have been seeing rain totals very heavy over places like ohio down to florida. we look at our accumulations so far here, you can see in the northeast, those have been mainly for new york state. upstate new york, clothes to .4 of an inch for syracuse, florida the winner is panama city where they had heavy showers over the last 24 hours. the rain total here is coming in around 3 1/2, not quite. almost .2 for determining ham where showers have been scattered off and on all day up in to georgia and kentucky as well. when you look at our radar and clouds together he

here's abc's chief business correspondent rebecca jarvis. >> reporter: we're using them for everything. from planning dream vacations to which doctors to visit. but according to regulators, a huge number of online reviews are complete phonies. do you feel any sense of guilt or anything? >> no because i feel like these people are going to pay somebody to write a review anyways. it might as well just be me. >> reporter: kathy is 17 years old and says she's written hundreds of glowing reviews for 4 bucks a pop. how long does it take you to write a typical review? >> about three minutes to write a review. >> reporter: by some estimates, as many as 30% of the reviews you see online are complete fakes. from restaurants to hotels to toys. and new york's attorney general is fighting back. >> we're paying or just ordering their employees and the employees' friends and families to write phony reviews to inflate their profile. >> reporter: but getting a nod from your customers can boost the bottom line. >> we've seen studies that, for instance, a one-star increase on yelp can increase a restauran

i'm metrologist rebecca stephenson. we are tracking a large storm in the pacific ocean that has gotten closer to the states and is spinning up a lot of showers and thunder storms into the pacific north-west and into nevada and inland as well. on the satellite and radar shower activities are scattered to the east and rockies and ida hoe. it is the west, from kaz cades west wards that we are concerned about the next 24 hours. a lot of rain will move in as an area of low pressure, the low will move in to southern california and southern oregan. as it does that the bulk of rain fall comes into washington and o oregan and it's issuing a flood watch. we'll see the rain coming down quickly in the mountains, and running into the river system. they quickly rise. we get more and more fall storms - it's not fall yet - not officially - but we get more fall storms and we have concerns of flooding in the west. we'll watch for that and the lightening bolts bringing in the chance of more fire starts. looking at the satellite picture yo

let's bring in rebecca stephens with more on the weather. >> yes, we certainly do see the worst over in the sheer amount of rain coming down in showers and thunderstorms. we'll still have them, just not as much rain within them. the problem is, we're watching the crest of the record flooding in the rivers travel downstream and still hit flood levels at record peaks in places downstream towards nebraska. you can see, yeah, there's still some rain showers out, but what happened, the magic combination that brought the flooding last week, starting on tuesday, wednesday, we had heavy showers and thunderstorms coming up from the southwest. there was so much moisture in it, that it felt very humid in colorado. wednesday, and thursday, a lot of folks were on twitter saying the air feels so heavy. it is usually drier here. what happened is all of that moisture dumped up to 21 inches of rain that were measured in someplace in seven days alone. these are river points where we have high river flow, flooding. i just wanted to show you the bright blue. that's how many areas are flooding all the wa
