let's check in with bob redell live in the car making his way to the bay bridge. last time we checked in you were along 880. how is it looking now? >> reporter: we're approaching the maze, westbound 580 now in oakland as you are making the bend into the maze. we went on from westbound 24 to here. and if you starting probably back in clairemont, 24, where you really see the back up and we're in it now so. heading north. trark was at the limit. a lot of concession and i would in my opinion say this is unusual. you are seeing the effects of the part strike. 400,000 people usually rely on take those trains so you have potentially a good chuck of people crowding at the roads now. as you're seeing the brake lights, try to get across the bay bridge i know you can't see this but i'm looking a good mile away from me and i see a lot of break lights not moving. i'm looking at the flat section approaching the toll plaza. once we get through-this mess here we'll probably be in traffic longer. my guess from our position we're as thing the home depot and ikea to my right on west

bob redell is live in the cambria neighborhood. good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, jon. what's remarkable about this crash is the fact no one was hurt and at this building here behind me wasn't damaged. clearly did not catch fire. when the driver of this truck crashed on the side of this apartment building at camden and donna, the truck did hit the gas meters, springing a leak. you could smell the gas in the apartment. the people who live here were able to get out okay. the gas never ignited. pg&e was able to shut it off. this happened around 3:40. the driver of a jay drain's rueter service was coming down the street, he fell asleep. the truck ended up hitting two parked cars, a couple of street signs. one man tells us this is the third time his car has been hit out here. the fifth time he's seen an accident at this intersection. >> no, i do not think it's coincidental at all. i talked to police who have said this is a bad area. people go fast around this turn and it's always late at night so couple times they are drin

here in the newsroom, bob redell. a rec and park worker accused of running over and killing a woman in holly park. chase cain is live in san francisco with the charges that worker is now facing. good morning, chase. >>> good morning, john. some rather serious felony charges in part because the prosecutors say that parts worker left the scene after he apparently ran over a woman who was sun bathing here on the grass in holly park about six weeks ago. that young mother was lying there where you see this memorial with her 11-month-old and her dog. the parks worker that is being charged with her death turned himself in late yesterday. 58-year-old tom bernoski had, woulded for parks and recs here in san francisco for some time. the district attorney charged him with felonyjv hit and run vehicular manslaughter, because it was in early september when he was driving a green parks and rec truck. apparently drove that truck off the path, hit this young mother and killed her while she lay there sun bathing on the grass. the 35-

bob redell is live at the scene. you just talked to a man whose wife as actually woken up by the crash. >> reporter: yes. and fortunately everyone is okay, good morning to you, laura. it was a man in a roto-rooter pickup truck this morning, police believe fell asleep. he was coming down camden, you see this red car here, he hit the side of that and you can see this debris, hit a street sign. made a u-turn. had his foot on the gas, hit another sign, a parked car before finally going into the side of this apartment building. he banged into it pretty good, at the intersection of camden and donna not far from hillsdale. you could smell gas according to the man we spoke to. inside asleep at the time a mother and her children t man's wife and kids, first thing she did was call her husband who had left for work only a few minutes earlier. >> my wife called me, and shake up everyone inside home. >> reporter: as i mentioned they did smell gas. police told them to get out. everyone is okay including the driver. police did esco

bob redell live in the willow glenn neighborhood. he joins us with the latest. good morning, bob. >> reporter: this took place outside of a town home on wible way in the driveway. a call came in, a 911 call to police. the person here heard somebody crying. when police arrived they found a woman standing by that suv there with the doors open, she's the suspected driver. she has been taken into custody suspected dui because they did find beer cans on the scene and based on her behavior. she is being interviewed. what happened earlier apparently, i don't think you can see the garage door but she somehow backed that suv into the garage door and there was a person who got crushed in the impact. that person has died. police aren't sure what the relationship is, between that driver and that person or what was going on, what led up to this. but the person who was arrested is a woman in her 20s they believe, and the woman who is dead is a woman who they think could be late 20s, early 30s. they will be out here for a few more hours. apparently they do, again as i was sayi

"today in the bay's" bob redell is in the newsroom with what we are just learning >>> the sun know ma county sheriff put out this identifying this person as shot as a male suspect with no other description. they are identifying him as a 13-year-old boy named andy lopez. two deputies on patrol came across the boy, around 3:00. he was in a field that the deputies thought was a real assault weapon seen there in that photo taken by law enforcement. it turns out it was actually a replica. not clear whether or not it shot beebes or any other sort of projectile. deputies called for backup and ordered the boy to drop the gun. when he did not comply,they shot him several times, handcuffed him, began administering first aid and called for paramedics who declared him dead on the scene. deputies realized that gun was not real. they also say they found a plastic handgun in the boy's waistband. his father says the gun was a toy that belonged to his son's friend, that he had told his son, every day, to, quote, behave himself. the d.a. along with santa rosa and petaluma police department are investig

bob redell is live in santa clara with the latest on the investigation. >> reporter: good morning. we spoke with some of the workers here, returning to work at levi stadium after yesterday's accident that killed one of their colleagues. we're talking about more than 900 workers, to go over safety rules and field questions. yesterday morning he is a 60-year-old man was killed while delivering a load of rebar on behalf of his employer. chopper video from above the site shows the delivery truck and a large bundle of rebar lying on the ground, next to it we believe it's that bundle that crushed him to death. this is the second time a worker has been killed on this project. police say that yesterday's death was an accident, now it will be up to cal osha to make sure the rules were followed. the agency has deemed this work site to be safe. >> you got one man, human will error. >> it is important. i don't think people realize how dangerous your job is. >> you see i'm wearing my hair net forym safety. i'm working the move. we got to make sure about safety. >> the co-director denied that d
