let's bring in tony from bernstein. welcome back, good to see you again. >> happy to join you. >> so set the record straight on the margin issue if you could, because it seems like that was the biggest driver of the stock in both directions yesterday. >> absolutely. so investors are very sensitive to apple's gross margins. they have been under pressure over the last year or so. and the bear case is that apple's a hardware company and margins will go down. so when they provided guidance initially, the guidance range was for about flat gross margins sequentially, and that spooked investors. apple is having a large quarter. and they'll have high volumes, which helps margins. the initial reaction is, this doesn't sound very good, the margins aren't changing. what happened on the course of the call, apple said we're deferring more revenue -- and this have very high-margin revenue -- so when we make that adjustment, the gross margin guidance was better than apple had provided in its press release. and so, you saw the stock re
