ezra, i want to start with you. first i'd like to check in with tracy lee who joins us from a secure undisclosed location. you've been on the internet all day trying to find out how to enroll in paul ryan's new health care plan. bhou is the website? >> there is no website. >> what do you mean there's no website? tracy, you get back into it and we'll come back to you in a moment. ezra, i hate to rush to judgment, but is it too early to declare the rollout of ryan care a calamitous train wreck? >> i think it might be too early, martin. paul ryan has had a bunch of health care plans before. that's something that people kind of don't know about him. they've been abandoned by republicans as they drop this strategy of not having a health care plan at all. if you don't have one at all, nobody can attack you for the hard choices you have to make. i think that is really interesting about the kind of approach republicans are taking to obama care right now is that all the republican health care plans including the one paul rya

good afternoon, ezra. i want to start with the most basic, which is that between 40 and 55 million americans do not have access to health insurance. with the federal and state exchanges opening today, will those people be able to get more affordable coverage than they've ever been able to get before? is that true or is that not true? >> a lot of them will be and some of them won't be. we expect the affordable care act, if you listen to the congressional budget office, we expect the affordable care act to cover about 25 million of the uninsured over the next decade. now that leaves you -- you know, about 30 million, a little less, a little more, who are still going to be uninsured. some of those folks could get coverage. could get in many cases free coverage through the affordable care act. some of them live in states where the republican governor has refused to expand medicaid and so they could get free coverage from the affordable care act but the governor will not allow them to or the state legislature w

ezra, you haven't held back on this at all. you've been extensively covering this and briefing everybody for a long time. as you have the data now of the rollout, you call it a disaster. so based on that, where are the earliest signs of how and where it can improve. >> i'm not sure we have them yet. let me say what's improving and what i'm worried about. the thing i'm worried about is never the traffic load. that's getting better. if you go to healthcare.gov today you have a much better shot of getting deep into the process or all the way through it than you did a week ago or two weeks ago. but that's an issue simply of adding servers. that is a mechanical issue so much as anything in a site's architecture is. what i've been worried about and what the obama administration told me is not going to be a problem and is clearly becoming a problem is that the back end is a mess as well. people have been talking a lot about what happens when you as a users go to the front of the website. but on the back of the website, a bunch of very

just laid out by ezra klein. in order for these insurance pools to work, you've got to get young, healthy people. you pool the risk. that's why the mandate exists, right? if you have this glitchy program in which only people desperate for insurance, you have this perverse adverse selection via web glitch where you're creating risk pools that are disportiold sick. why should i not panic about that? >> there are a lot of instances, younger, healthier people would not selectively enroll. that it won't be fixed in time for them to be happy to be in it. it's better to have insurance than not and now, we're beginning going to get the opportunity to have insurance. we also have the example of states. california is a magnificent example. in massachusetts, the only state right now in which health care is really a human right, we're at about 98% enrollment and it took some hiccups to get there. but please look ahead a little bit. you can be doomsday if you want, but i don't feel that way at all. >> i want to come back to m

news editor of the "the guardian," alex coppleman, and "the washington post's" ezra cline and luke russert. we had to play that boehner sound from last year because it's pretty stunning given his position less than a year ago, which is potentially defaulting over the repeal of obama care. i must ask you first about the latest from the coke industries. the coke brothers, according to "the new york times" this weekend, had spent over $200 million through organizations including freedom partners chamber of commerce, which is one of their groups. they've dispersed more than $200 million to help defund the government over the affordable care act. today, minutes ago, the coke brothers sent a letter to every member of congress saying, coke has not taken a position on the legislative tactic of tying the continuing resolution to defunding obama care nor has coke lobbied on legislative provisions defunding obama care. is this part of a grand effort to get republican leaders to push their caucus away from the obama care zeal? >> it's odd, alex, because just as that memo went forward, heritage action,
