de la vega talked to police about a second school he previously worked at and she joins us now live. good afternoon, janine. >> reporter: good afternoon, well detectives were here at bar russford elementary school in san mateo earlier talking to the staff and parents here. they know the suspect worked here for about a year and now they want to know if he inappropriately touched any of the students here. last friday san mateo police arrested 20-year-old eric michael rinse at his home for allegedly kissing an inproperty operation touching a girl that attends the after school program at carol elementary school, the school district says an employee witnessed him alone with the girl and that is against the policy and when the incident was investigated further police found probable cause for an arrest, parents have been informed about that inspect. >> i am really worried and really i am scared you know to send my kids to school because i am feeling it is the second house for my kids. >> rines was booked for lewd and lascivious behavior with a child under 14, he only worked at carol as an a

janine de la vega just talked to a member of the police department and joins us live with the newly released statistics. good afternoon, janine. >> reporter: good afternoon, tori. i just got the numbers a few hours ago and gang related violent crime is down by 15%. now the department started a violence reduction plan over the summer because the city experienced a spike in crime and officers say their efforts are paying off. now, police say gang-related homicides went down by 43% from 2012 to 2013 during january through september. gang-related aggravated assaults decreased by 10% in the same same period. robberies connected with gangs dropped by 34% and simple gang- related assaults went down to 7%. police are attributing success to the plan which involves an increased police presence in the community. officers were re's signed to units. they worked with the task forbes and partnered -- task force and parer inned with the community -- partnered with the community. there was a lot of overtime involved. we asked the police spokeswoman how long the efforts can keep going. >> only time will tell.

police are on the scene of a suspected drunk drive. janine de la vega got new information about the suspect and the victim and she joins us now live from san jose. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. we know that they are friends, the suspect and the victim in this accident. police are talking to the suspect back at the police station interviewing her. she was behind the wheel of the suv that with see parked in that driveway. we're being told that the driver was drunk at the time. one of the questions that we wanted to find out from officers is did she know she hit her friend. was she trying to help. police were called to weeble way after a neighbor called to say that a woman was crying outside. when officers arrived, they found the suv and next to it a 26-year-old woman seriously injured. she died at the scene. it appears the driver backed into the garage hitting it and her friend. it's unclear where the victim was standing at the time, but police believe prior to getting hit that she was a passenger in the car. police have arres
