andrew spencer reports the crash on interstate 40 also injured more than a dozen people, wednesday, when the church bus apparently blew a tire. --reporter pkg- as follows-- from the air, you can see all that remains of the front of this tractor trailer...covered in soot and water after the fire that erupted when it collided with a church bus on i- 40 in eastern tennessee. the bus carried 18 people -- mostly seniors from front street baptist church in statesville, north carolina...whose pastor spoke overnight. "we do know that there were several that went on to be with the lord." the tennessee highway patrol believes the bus driver lost control... "the bus had a blow- out on one of it's tires. we believe it to be the front steer axle-- steering axle, there, and it caused the bus to lose control." the bus then crossed the median, breaking through cables and crashing into the tractor trailer and an s-u-v. almost immediately, witnesses flooded 9-1-1 dispatch with phone calls. "the first ambulances and fire apparatus were on scene in less than five minutes." the quick response wasn't enough t

what strikes me in that, spencer, is we're talking about the influence of money and politics. saying that this group largely funded by cokes and the heritage foundation and others, i mean, that was their agenda. right? very clearly to jam up the president on pretty much every issue which is not exactly the way that the democratic system is supposed to work. >> that's right. it is important to understand what citizens united did to make that possible. basically, a wealthy person could give $3 million to an outside group like a superpac or corporation and then spend an unlimited sum on races. right in what's different in this case is if the court strikes down these limits, and individual will be able to give $3 million, a politician can ask for that $3 million and then the politicians can divy this up between their party committee, the state committees, federal committees and all of the candidates across the country who are running for u.s. house and u.s. senate. so, it's a real problem and there's an opportunity for cash for favors and asking for that $3 million contribution. >

let's check in with spencer christian with more with the winds. >> okay. well, thankfully, i can see things are calmer here in the bay area. taking a look at peak wind gusts. 75 miles per hour. these are the reporte reported -- recorded gusts by midnight. wind have calmed down as you can see right now, gusts up to 29 miles per hour at sfo with 32 in napa. around 20 miles per hour gusts at san carlos and half moon bay. taking a look at light scattered showers near monterey moving into areas like carmel valley. but not very wide he spread. light scattered showers along interstate 5. into the sierra a mix of rain and snow. snow in higher elevations above 5,000 feet. rain bee low. we have a winter weather advisory in effect for a stretch of the sierra there. back here in the bay area nearly four tenths of an inch. over an inch and you can see lighter amounts in other locations including south bay mountains. it's tapering off here, we'll take a look at the forecast in just a few minute autos thank you very much. >> remember, you can get alerts and radar by down
