i must say, too, i'm reminded of the celebration yesterday of speaker tom foley. tom foley is one of the most wonderful persons i've ever had the privilege to know. i don't know anyone with more integrity, more intelligence, more grace, more decency, more hard-working than time: all i do is compromise. he cared about the fifth district in washington. but he really cared about finding solutions. i urge all of us to remember what we can do here and also remember that people are really fed up with us: we have the opportunity to do something here. >> thank you, mr. chairman and madame chair. it's an honor to join you and my other colleagues here today and to be a part of this conference committee. i'm confident that we can accomplish over the next few weeks that's good for our farmers and good for the american people. as we sit here today and begin these negotiations, cotton, pa nuts and other road crops are being picked in georgia. the harvest will soon be over. and, in a few months, farmers will begin preparations for the 2014 farm year. talking with their banks and
