lamott, simon winchester and others. for 19 years, tyler has chaired the authors luncheon, the largest fundraiser fortunate kidney foundation -- for the national kidney foundation in san francisco. >> when you love something, it's not work. >> reporter: his volunteer efforts help increase awareness, prevention and treatment for some 73 million americans at risk for chronic kidney disease and 26 million people who already have it. >> yay, tyler. >> thank you. >> reporter: the fall luncheon raised more than $400,000. nicole friedland of the national kidney foundation says the money helps get the word out. >> kidney disease is fairly silent until the kidneys fail. >> reporter: tyler plans months in advance and oversees all details. author amy tan has worked with him. >> he just finds what needs to be done. he just brings in these patrons and that is one of the hardest things you have to do is to get this thing going year after year after year and make it a tradition. >> reporter: thanks to entirely and the kidney foundation
