chief political correspondent byron york joins me now. is the president politicizing the holidays? >> i think you would have to say that. the last few days, the white house has sent out and the president's organizing group called organizing for action has sent out talking points for people who might be at thanksgiving or hanukkah gatherings to pitch obama care to their family members. and it gave instructions for how to bring it up and suggest that we should go to the website, if it works, and sign up for it, discuss the features of obama care. it even said you could use common events in a holiday household as a springboard to talk about obama care. it had a picture of a man with a big knife carving a turkey. then the next photo he had a bandage saying, food related incidents happen this time of the year. that's a great opportunity to talk about obama care. >> that's insulting. i have not seen that picture. seriously. >> this got a lot of negative reaction. it got a lot of ridicule, a certain amount of mockery. on a more serious basis, it received criticism for the obama administra

byron york, thanks very much. martha: a big question for the president yesterday, did he the healthcare website was in such bad shape before the launch. here's what he said on that. >> on the website i was not informed directly the website would not be working the way it was supposed to. had i been informed i wouldn't be going out saying this is going to be great. you know, i'm accused of a lot of things but i don't think i'm stupid enough to go around saying this is going like shopping on amazon or travelocity if i thought it wasn't going to work. martha: a fox news poll shows americans don't believe the president was that far out of the loop. when asked if they were aware or unaware of the irs targeting within the obamacare rollout and nsa spying. 47% think he's ducking responsibilities. 27% say he should have known. 18% that he was unaware. we talked about whether the president ever said, come on into the oval office. let's take a ride through this thing. let's see what the user's experience will be. we got the

washington examiner chief political correspondent byron york joins us. okay. so where do we begin? what is it that the unions want? >> this is complicated. there is something called a reinsurance fee in obamacare. the deal is that insurance companies are going to have to start covering people with preexisting conditions, riskier cases than before. it's going to cost them more. what we didn't hear a lot about when obamacare was debated was that there was a provision in it which would pay these insurance companies billions of dollars to cover those risks. >> so there was no risk to the insurance companies at all. >> exactly. >> can i tell you that is -- i mean, that's unbelievable. but anyway. >> so the way it's done is -- the government for three years 2014, 2015, 2016 will levy a fee on insurers. $63 a person. >> you pay 63. >> i pay 63. >> raise about $25 billion in this -- in 2014. now, the unions are called self-insured and self-administered plans. the unions, a lot of these big unions they don't go to an insurance company for their insurance they do it themselves. and they don'

washington chief political correspondent byron york joins us now. byron, thanks for being on the program. you heard the interview with dr. carson. certainly it sounds reasonable for the american people to have this fear, this distrust because of what's going on. and you say in your recent article that things are just going to get worse. originally, we he have had two big problems with obamacare. one the web site is a disaster and two people who get their insurance through the individual market have seen higher premiums and deductibles go sky high. the next thing we are going to see is a much larger segment of the population, people who get their insurance at work and they work for small companies. companies who have between 2 and 50 employees. experts saying those people are going to experience kind of the same thing that those people in the individual market experience. they could be facing same set of problems. >> it seems that people aren't aware that this next wave is even larger, this looming over the healthcare industry. americans very upset w

washington examiner chief political correspondent byron york joins us. byron, thanks so much for joining us tonight. tell us a little bit about the data that you have. i mean, what are the big concerns and we have heard this but not really on the front burner is about doctors and hospitals losing their reimbursement rates. they are north going to be getting as much money from the insurance companies. what do viewers out there need to know? how will that effect them? >> yeah, that's right. most of what we have talked about, you are right, has been higher premiums or cancelled policies or deductibles that have gone through the roof. but, obamacare is going to have lots of other effects as well and there is a new report in the washington examiner by richard pollock that really shows how extensive those changes could be. too big issues are the number of doctors who are participate in these networks who will agreed to lower reimburse. rates that some these obamacare policy offers. and what pollock found was that a lot of doctors around the country talked to i

you know who, lois lerner chief political correspondent byron york is here with the latest. i thought we were done with lois lerner a little bit. >> not at all. now we learn that she sent very, very confidential information about some conservative groups to the federal election commissions, which is completely against the law. the irs is not allowed to share confidential taxpayer information with anybody else, even if they're another government agency. >> and she is a lawyer? >> correct. >> she worked at the fec from 1981 to 2001 and that's when she went to the snirs. >> that's correct. what she sent them was the amount some of these groups had raised, their experience expenses, how much they paid their employees by name. all this kind of stuff that you have to supply to the irs to try to get tax exempt the fec had asked for information about these groups. and they specifically asked public information. they were not asking for anything private. there was in note from the fec about a group called the american future fund. and the fec official wrote if the irs has granted thi

washington examiner chief political correspondent byron york joins us. what do you think? >> it was incorrect over and over and over again. as far as the "new york times" is concerned by the way, i thought that phrase incorrect promise seemed a little odd. i went to the nexus data base which has all their articles all the way back to the 1970s. it has never been used. i thought maybe some politician has made an incorrect promise sometime in the past. well, it has never been described that way in the "new york times." >> you know, i was actually quite disappointed. i know a lot of people complained about the "new york times." i like the news division. i read the newspaper. but, you know, first the editorial board saying misspoke. that's such a lie. i mean, that was so covering up. and then i blogged about it ombudsman. incorrect promise. i guess it's sort of literally correct. >> yeah. well, to me, it's a promise that has since been proven false. but, you have to remember there is in washington -- the most generous way you can interpret it is that a lot of journalists are v
