craig? what do you think it will be like in two years? >> we talked about the knives coming out in the right and the washington post article noting top democratic officials have started taking their aim at governor christie. the article quotes democrats as saying, quote, they plan to chip away at christie's moderate image and present him nationally as a hard-edged conservative. how effective of a strategy could that be? >> that's how they've gone after other republicans before, right? take mitt romney who ran as a moderate in massachusetts, not once, but twice and that's obviously the obama campaign and they believe at least on social issues they successfully painted him as somebody who was too conservative for the mainstream. it doesn't surprise me that that's going to be the tactic that they use. if you look at virginia, we're seeing this is a successful strategy right now, that the brand of the republican party particularly on social issues. all republicans are vulnerable to this because

craig, thank you very much. ambassador golback, thank you for joining us, what's the situation there and what's the u.s. mission? >> well, thank you very much. our mission of course is to support the philippine government in its relief operations. we have 10 c-130 aircraft and four mv 22 o os praipreyey airc. plastic sheeting for 10,000. we are going to be moving a lot of that this morning and possibly from this afternoon into this evening. there will be a lot of foodstuffs water et cetera hygiene kits that are being arranged at the airport and we'll get that moved down to tacloban. and then the government will arrange to receive that and move it to subdistribution centers and to the remote villages. we are recalling that much of what is there was destroyed and there are not a lot of vehicles or support structures to assist in the effort. >> have you been given a scope of the disaster? >> well in terms of the dimension of it when you any about a typhoon that's 300 miles wide, 480 kilometers wide, tearing a swath

for, devastating pictures craig, thank you. now skype from manila in the philippines, an international emergency respondent for the u.n. office with humanitarian affairs. you're charge of the digital relief effort. what does that mean? >> hi, tony, yes, my responsibility has been sort of how we as international community handle, bring together information to give a better picture to help responders who are in country. now the digital side of it is working with external groups, mostly international volunteer tech-enabled groups trying to undertake activities such as mining and social media, and other sources of data to try to ament existing services that we offer to the humanitarian community in hopes to give a better picture and better understanding. as craig mentioned, to become aware of where the needs are needed the most. we're really working with the digital humanitarians abroad to try to augment the response. >> that's terrific, so we're into the first week of this. how is it going, and what are the challenges you're encou

liz: craig, i just changed my mind. change it back. >> you know, i think that he's making an interesting point, but he's looking backwards. so tesla's an interesting company. it's a growth company, it's a technology company, and people look at this through the formulas and through the rigor of analysis you'd use in detroit are really looking backwards. tesla has visibility, well, basically, they're a parity on drive train costs, they have visibility on the costs of cutting their drive train in half next handful of years. they're not just going to produce one or two cars, they're going to have the same number of horses in their stable as general motors or ford or possibly, you know, bmw off on the horizon. there's no reason you can't see the really impressive growth and the really significant technology advantage -- liz: dade, you looking backwards? is that true? >> of course we're looking forwards, and that's just as scary. i moon, for example, right now one of the key metrics we're looking for after the bell here is pr

>> sure, craig. what we're seeing with postdeployment syndrome is the silent injury of a traumatic brain injury, what folks these days call a concussion, along with psychological challenges, combat stress, depression, anxiety, on top of the things the colonel just talked about. pain, sometimes amputation. we're seeing at least 10% of all the folks coming back from the wars who are seen in the v.a. setting have had a traumatic brain injury and are still symptomatic with it. so of those folks, at least 90% are going to have a secondary injury such as combat stress, anxiety or pain. so we're seeing somewhere between 7% and 10% of everyone who's been in the conflicts, was coming back and getting care at the v.a. is having postdeployment syndrome. >> how difficult is it to identify and treat that? >> it's very challenging if you haven't seen it before. if you're not used to it and don't fully understand it. which is why the v.a. has set up more than 110 teams across the country with specialization in unde

craig, thank you so much. more now on the storms let's check in we eboni deon. >> yes, i'm tracking typhoon haiya. it will track off to the west-northwest and as it does it will weaken. it will head towards the coast of vietnam, and as it does it will weaken. we expect sect landfall sunday. although it has weakened, and notice we're not seeing that well defined eye had a we once saw it remains a category three hurricane, so it is still a very strong system as it moves through the south china sea. but the current track is expected to take it along the coast of vietnam, putting it into northern vietnam as a strong tropical storm by sunday evening. winds are expected to come down to 69 mph. good news there, but folks preparing well in advance of that system. even still in a weakened state we expect to see a lot of heavy rainfall in some areas maybe as much as a foot. >> thank you so much. there are reports now that negotiators in geneva will hold a news conference later today. they've been working on a plan to le

joining us live from cebu is craig leeson. what is the number one priority there now? >> strangely as it sounds, the number one priority is getting the relief out there. we are told that it's coming in from all over the world, but we are not seeing it on the ground, particularly in tacloban, where it's most needed - the hardest hit city within the central parts of the philippines, when this tidal surge swept through and took many people's lives with it. this is where this relief is supposed to be. there's supposed to be a coordinated management plan which there is still no evidence of. so what's happening is that we are seeing ngos coming in and doing their work, moving down the coast to remote areas. we are not seeing it on the ground - from the philippine government at least. >> reporter: they lumbered into the cebu airport base with military precision - delivering the precious cargo for one of philippine's worst natural disasters. those that couldn't walk were carried - the sick, the old. and those that wanted to escape the disaster. >> bodies are on the road. nobod
