dave warren has more on the storm's track. robert ray is in atlanta with the impact on the airports, but we're going to begin with diane in pittsburgh with a look at how the storm is effecting the roads. and diane, based on what i'm seeing, those roads are slick. >> yeah, snow continues to come down. it has been coming down for hours now. there is probably between two and three inches of snow on the ground here. we were talking about people earlier, and they were not plussed by all of in. in 1950 the pittsburgh area saw 2.5 feet of snow. it is predicted this area will get about a foot of snow. it should be over by tomorrow night. at least that's what everybody is hoping. including this woman. >> i have a lot of people coming in from columbus, but they are not driving until thursday, and i think the weather will be fine then. >> reporter: now the pennsylvania department of transportation has road crews out working 12-hour shifts. so far there haven't been any major accidents. we were looking around to ohio the next door neighbo

dave warren has more on the storm's track, diane joining live from chicago. and randall pinkston is at laguardia international airport. randall what is the board saying? >> well, so far a lot better than expected. there are only five airports with significant delay problems, meaning delays of more than 45 minutes. that's right here in new york, philadelphia, and inexplicably fort lauderdale, florida. everyone else is looking okay. this is what it looked like on tuesday in the south, and this is what it longs like today in the northeast. the storm system that started in california canceled hundreds of flights as it moved across the country, and while there have been some disruptions today, it has definitely not been as severe as anticipated. >> this morning we had a little bit of a lull in the weather, but the forecasters are telling us that the wind and rain is supposed to pick up again in the afternoon. so-so far we dodged a bullet. >> reporter: a system of going through security has eased long lines. >> those people eligible for tsa fast track can keep shoe

al jazeera, detroit. >>> now i'm meteorologist dave warren. we're looking at a storm developing in the southeast that will intensify and impact much of the united states. right now it's affecting texas arkansas, missouri, they have had mix of rain and snow, and some of that is heavy. look, across north central texas, ten inches of snow coming down, a number of accidents have been reported in this area. not only is it snow but you're getting a mix of sleet and freezing rain as well. very slippery roadways there and along i-40 this area of freezing rain has pushed east. it will improve a little bit there. mem first at 46, very cold air is in place. if this storm develops, if you have anything keeping the cold air in place we're talking about snow and will bring the warm air with it. and that will change the mix, virginia, over to rain, but the rain will become heavy. the cold air is all the way to western pennsylvania and ohio, even southern ohio is seeing rain. this is a lot of travel troubles here so low clouds and rain, a lot of flights will

for more on the weather we turn now to dave warren. >> yes, we are looking at more wind happening across the northeast. wind advisories and high wind warnings throughout the day today. we had a line of severe weather that came through pennsylvania and in through the northeast, but they are no longer severe. we had wind damage, that's why you had severe thunderstorm warnings. many reports coming in, all of these orange dots are wind damage from storms. there's no flooding problems yet, no tornados or hail. just a wind event, and it will continue to be windy throughout the day today. we do have some arrival problems of some airport delays. arrival delays meaning flights going into philadelphia are denied. jfk is improving with just 30 minute delays, and no real problems in washington, d.c. new york will see temperatures climbing today, but then dropping over the weekend. there are some coaler air moving in, and the wind will continue to gust. that is coming up with the national forecast. i'll have that later. >> it is going to be cold. dave thank you very much. >>> 47 million americans wil

for that we turn to dave warren. another stormy day. >> yeah, it sure is. but the thank we're talking about now is just the recovery, and the colder temperatures that have moved in. chicago 36, 34 in illinois, st. louis at 39 degrees. the typhoon, the recovery effort still underway in the philippines. this is what happened in the mediterranean. large areas of the italian countryside remain underwater. they had about half a year's worth of rain in just a 24-hour period. so they are looking at the recovery efforts there. a lot of mud slides and transportation was shut down. also problems in mexico where thousands of residents have evacuated their homes in vera crus. the region was already saturated. so a lot of recovery going on now, not many big storms happening. you see it is all clear in mexico. the big thing we'll be talking about with the next storm is the cold temperatures across the country. i'll look at what you can expect, when the cold air will come. that's all coming up with the national forecast. >> thank you very much. >>> a florida congressman a

your best trend this holiday travel season could be dave warren. we're looking at a major storm that is making it's way across the southwest to the north. >> meteorologist: i'm not bringing good news. i don't know if i'll be your best friend but we're looking at problems with the holiday week with rain an snow coming down an traffic delays likely. we're already seeing problems in the west where we have rain. this is what it's been looking like across texas and oklahoma. they've had snow coming down, a number of accidents. at least ten inches of snow reported in parts of north, central texas along with freezing rain and slick roadways. you want to take your time because this area of freezing rain is pushing into arkansas right around little rock. this will continue to manufacture east and into very cold air. it is a storm that will develop along the gulf coast and move forward. monday there is this large area of rain in the mid-atlantic states. that mix will change over to rain and become very heavy. it will stay as all snow in northwestern pennsylv

sonia gallego, al jazeera. >> i'm dave warren. we are battling it out between the warm and cold air in the midwest, will really start to take place between tonight and tomorrow. snow coming down that's the forecast, we have winter weather advisories for nebraska and colorado, heavy snows expected around minneapolis, overnight tonight, by tomorrow that snow will be coming down. doesn't look like much on the radar now, the storm not even developed yet. there's a lot of moisture from the south, there rop cal storm from gulf of mexico, and cold air from the north. timing, overnight tonight seeing this snow and rain develop but it will really get heavy, dark blue color, indicating the heaviest part of the snow, rain snow line right over northwestern iowa. that will really start to accumulate, but wednesday morning it will be clearing out. not a long duration storm, just quickly overnight tonight and tomorrow but we could still see about four to six inches of rain come down. maybe a lingering shower on thursday, temperatures right about

and dave warren is tracking the path of the storm, and where is it now? >> it's moved past the philippines and it will move to vietnam. buff watching the satellite, this is an indication of the strength of the storm. this was the satellite picture that came in. when you have a solid area of thunderstorms clearly around this eye, that's why the reports came in that it was estimated at 190 miles per hour wind. that was the satellite picture before it hit. and now term nothing like it was before making landfall. but you can certainly see the center moving away from the philippines, and past manila at 1:55. it's still equivalent to a category 5. and it's still packing quite a punch, moving west at 23 miles per hour. it will move across the south china sea and move toward vietnam. the timing, this will be local time. that will be 8:00 saturday morning, local time, saturday night here. and wind expected to be 20 miles per hour. but with the center of the storm forecast, it will be right along the coast. and you can get incredible storm surges as it's feeding of

dave warren has been tracking it throughout the week. dave have we seen the worst now? >> yeah, we're pretty much seeing the worst now. a massive rain storm. a lot of warm air is being pulled in from the south. the cold air is yet to arrive, but a lot of rain coming down. flooding occurring around new york and northern new jersey and then snow and the cold air in western pennsylvania, but not a lot of it. this is all flood watches and warnings. and there is that severe thunderstorm warning. temperatures warm in boston, up to 63. it was pretty warm in new york. now to 49. there is the cold air, though, toronto and western pennsylvania, seeing those temperatures start to drop as we dry out. low clouds and poor visibility, planes traveling into those areas are being delayed at their source. it is clear in boston and d.c. with just less than 15 minutes. temperature changing, big wind on the way. i'll have the detail coming up. dell? >> dave warren thank you very much. >>> iran and turkey are calling for a ceasefire in syria. iranian media reporting the foreign minister is m

. ♪ >>> and i'm meteorologist dave warren. we are looking at some very cold air that will impact the country, but it will take a while. areas that were hit hard with severe weather now dealing with a very brief shot of some cold air. pushing east, not much on the radar, plus the satellite. there is the cool-down there. but look at the warm air returning already from texas up through oklahoma and kansas. not talking really about the storm in the northwest, but really it's snow falling down. just some light snow expected in the pacific northwest. not much across much of the country. the storm has moved out, but brought in cold air behind it. just wait, though, until this weekend. in the meantime inches of snow will fall in the higher elevations, not a lot, but could be a nuisance in some of the passes there. not really happening yet, but that will change. we'll see rain in washington, oregon, california, and nevada, and then the rain and snow will fall in the hire elevations. this is friday these warming temperatures come back a

greening van nears one building at a time ♪ >>> meteorologist dave warren. temperatures are right about the freezing market, but they will get warmer. a lot of warm air will be moving up with this storm. a lot of rain, but a little bit of freezing rain. pittsburgh is at 32. and here is this rain snow line up to about pennsylvania and maryland, and it will continue to move north. as far as the amounts of snow, 5 to 9 inches in pennsylvania, western new york and up through new england, but along the coast is just a lot of rain. right here, though, we're starting to see that cold air get stuck in place. so we're going to see rain which could freeze. that lead to ice accumulation. very slippery roadways with ak -- accumulating snow. the wind issue will be wednesday night to thursday. wednesday night as all of the moisture is moving out, it will start to dry out, but the wind will pick up. these will be gusts of up to 50 miles an hour at least. very windy day thursday the first day of hanukkah and thanksgiving. as far as the temperatures go, they climb today well

not talking after the game last >> i'm meteorology dave warren. the clouds show there is not much happening here. it's clear but much colder. it's cold in the pacific northwest with a few showers but these temperatures will rapidly be changing over the next few days, especially this weekend. warm air is returning from texas and oklahoma, and you can see that temperature climbing up to south dakota. here is the chill in chicago, new york, and new england. the temperatures have dropped a little bit compared to what is in store for us this weekend. we have higher elevations with the winter weather advisory. not a big storm, snow coming down, a few inches of snow in southern montana, wyoming and areas of idaho. now the temperatures today will be really changing over the next few days. not much happening here in the northern plains. the temperatures are climbing, and they've warmed up a few degrees from yesterday. that trend will not continue. much warmer in minneapolis. 12 degrees. the outlook for friday, though, there's the warm air and the cold air

. >> meteorologist: i'm meteorologist dave warren. normally we would not be focusing so much on a storm that could potentially develop, but considering it's thanksgiving, we'll tell what you could be developing. next tuesday there could be a storm developing in the gulf, and the track watching this closely. it looks to be continuing to turning up the coast. whether it will go further inland or along the coast will have a big impact, but it looks like we'll be dealing with a big storm wednesday and thursday. the impacts of this looks like travel delays. it could be mainly rain with low clouds and a big storm developing, a lot of airlines could see significant delays next wednesday as the storms tracks off the southeast coast into new england. on thursday by that time the storm could be off eastern canada but it will intensify. the pressure drops rapidly. now you'll start to see a gusting wind. it could be dry, but look for a windy day. this storm really intensifying to see wind gusts at 50 to 60 mph. what does this mean for you? over t

. >> meteorologist: and meteorologist dave warren, this time of year you see the temperatures rise a few degrees. we're seeing this front right through the northern plains and dropping south right through nebraska and kansas, and seeing a quick drop in temperatures and that drop will continue to push south. it does bring rain and a snow shower and we see a passing shower. this is not a widespread event with rain or snow. just a quick shot of some light snow as this front moves south. you'll notice a big drop in temperatures before you see any snow accumulate. that will be the big story. here is a big drop happening in the last 22 hours. minneapolis has dropped. omaha, 5 degrees, but that's getting colder and colder as the front moves through. there is that slight climb in temperatures. in kansas it's 13 degrees warmer than it was this time yesterday. the outlook shows this front moving south by 5:00. it's down into missouri and moving to iowa and then

. >>> i'm meteorologist dave warren. we're looking outside here across new york city, and we do not any anymore snow, the snow has cleared out. very little sunshine, that will change though because the skies will begin to clear. it is getting cold out there. this is the radar plus the coulds showing the snow has cleared out from new york, but is pushing south. so this will continue to push south. it is starting to clear up a bit, but this is cold air coming in. lake effect snow showers developing as that cold air moves over the great lakes. the temperatures will drop here. trying to climb a little bit with sunshine, but the at the same time the cold air is coming in from the northwest. here comes the lake effect snow showers. now it depends on how the wind shapes up or sets up. we'll see which area gets the most snow, but the potential is there. climbing up to 43 degrees and then dropping, wednesday, thursday. it will start to warm up a bit friday and saturday. temperatures climbing back up into the upper 50s this weeken

. >> i'm meteorologist, dave warren, and we're watching the cooler air slowly work its way east. dig drop in temperatures on the east coast, 30s 4 to 40s to 50s. er you sigh the temperatures on i-95, in the 60s. and not far away, we see 40s with the temperature expected. rain coming down, and the front will move through pe pennsylvan, and new england. ones it clears out, 40° cooler, and right about the same as yesterday. milder temperatures, dropping in the next 12 hours. tomorrow, 40 in the morning, and 51 in the afternoon. it's drier with a cooler breeze. mid it low 50s friday and saturday and monday, that will be the story here on the east coast of the united states. rain and clouds, no rain coming in, cool air and flurries, and storms developing in the pacific northwest. we have wind advisories, where the higher elevations are getting snow. this is a super typhoon that's going to impact the philippines. strong gusty winds, wind coming in from the north. and that will coincide with the high tide. so flooding rain, and storm surges expected on friday local time in the philippi

. ♪ >>> i'm meteorologist dave warren. we're going to look at the satellite here from supertyphoon haiyan. lost some intensity a bit, but still very powerful and moving toward vietnam. the wind is at 155, it's 170 miles mouth of manila. it will move across the south china sea, and by the time it gets here it is expected to have wind speed of 120 miles an hour, but the track, still getting a lot of moisture coming in from the sea there, so maybe not losing much intensity, despite it being over land. certainly it looks like flooding and wind damage will be a problem here for the next two days. and it is starting to get warmer in denver as the wind comes across the mountains, but elsewhere cooler air coming in to minneapolis, washington, d.c., and the pacific northwest still seeing this weather come in from the ocean there. the valleys not seeing the winter weather advisory, but the upper elevations getting a little snow, and on the eastern slope of the rockies, the wind is picking up there. not a lot of rain or snow, but som

. >> i'm meteorologist dave warren. we take a look at the weather. we are in the north east. the wind has moved off the not coast. the code colder air is moving i. the showers will die down and the skies will clear and the temperatures will get a little colder. we are in the 60's in new york and philadelphia and washington. toronto is down to 39 degrees. and there is that cold air. 30s in the freezing mark outside of the i-95 corridorment and 44 in philadelphia. and tomorrow afternoon not much of a warm up. there is cold air from the north. and some areas don't make it out of the 30s tomorrow afternoon. wind will gust out of the north and really start to pick up in the afternoon. and dying down at night. you will see the temperatures really drop, the skies are clear and the cold air is in place. the wind dies down. by monday a chill in the air as you head outside. a wind from the north and the low pressure from the coast and that is what brought the storms yet. high pressurhigh pressure is bud it picks up the wind speed across the northeast. here is the cold air from the nort

. ♪ >>> and i'm dave warren. seeing some winter weather developing across the midwest. the radar is tracking all of this developing here, a little yellow here indicating some heavier rain, but a little farther north it is snow. this is nebraska, and this will spread through iowa and into minnesota. and will accumulate, the close-up shows this rain, snow line, really starting to come down fairly heavy here. but then the rain changes to snow and the snow will be heavy and could be slushy on roadways. the visibilities are dropping. that's how we see how heavy the snow is coming down. just less than a mile in north platte, nebraska, omaha is at 4 miles. once it gets down to an mile or less, that's an indication it is getting a little heavier. just to the south is heavy rain, heavy snow coming down where it's cold enough. by 6:00, 7:00 tomorrow morning, the storm is clearing out, and there is cold air behind it. about two to six inches of snow expected through this whole area, and again, with the temperature just dropping a bit, it could be mainly on grass y areas and slushy

. ♪ >>> i'm meteorologist dave warren, we are watching the tropics in the pacific now. the typhoon is really a super typhoon. and it is continuing to push towards the philippines, and that is where the track will take this storm. continuing its present motion. by about friday morning it will be approaching the philippines. storm surge a big problem along with wind which will be about 155 miles an hour and flooding rain as well. and they are certainly preparing there in the philippines. a lot of these boats have been moved to locations. impacted by some colder air in the souther planes. this is now south into texas. add some snow in minneapolis, and nebraska, south dakota yet, but now it has all cleared out and it is just rain. still some rain moving through texas as this front moves south. a big impact will be the temperatures. big temperature drop as this front moves through and it could get cold enough where we could see freezing temperatures through west texas and parts of oklahoma. by tomorrow morning the temperature dropping down below the freezing mark. at 5:00 we

. ♪ >>> i'm meteorologist dave warren, we are in the midwest now, the areas hit hard with that severe weather, not seeing anything on the radar, but the temperatures are just cold. temperatures at 34 in chicago, 30 in minneapolis. you think this is cold wait until the weekend. we're talking about an arctic blast. out in the pacific northwest it's a storm we're talking about up over canada, bringing a lot of moisture in off of the pacific there with showers and in the high elevations dealing with snow. winter weather advisory in effect, southern montana for some light snow developing specifically in the higher elevations. you can see this picked up on the radar and the clouds together with wind and rain coming in. temperatures are warming back up over the great lakes but look what we have up in canada, an area of low-pressure just to the north of that some very cold arctic air, and it will plunge south on saturday and sunday. you might wake up to a warm temperature, but then temperatures will drop. you will see wind gusting between 30, 40 miles an hour, and the temperature could easily

. >> i'm meteorologist dave warren, this is not a having big storm, but the timing is not the best. as it will continue to spread east and put some snow down in time for the evening rush hour. and now spreading into minnesota. this is what it has been doing, there's heavier rain through nebraska. right in that boundary is where we are seeing that rain snow line developing. and now spreading into northwestern nebraska northwestern idaho seeing that rain mix with snow, and it's eventually will spread up towards minneapolis. so the visibility gets a communication of where that snow is coming down, and this lower visibility is spreading through iowa, not that low, though, it has to get down to quarter a mile, then you are seeing heavy snow, less than a mile there in south dakota, just under a mile visibility. so some light to maybe moderate snow continues to come down. it will continue to spread to the northeast, this is central time there. still coming down in nebraska, getting the heaviest snow, accumulation can be an inch an hour, and mainly on grassy surfaces the road can be a slush
