abc's john muller has that story for us. >> reporter: a seemingly normal day on the water took a potentially deadly turn for experienced kayaker mark hardingham on saturday. seen here on this video, 56-year-old hardingham and his friends are paddling in the river about three hours outside of london. an area listed as one of the most difficult rivers to kayak in england, when suddenly, mark's kayak got stuck between two rocks. hardingham and his kayak were vertically pinned under a ranling waterfall. his body trapped and head held underwater. his friends waste no time, springing into action. racing to free hardingham. they abandoned their kayaks. they use ropes to harness him, allowing him to gasp for air. then, pulling hardingham to safety. >> we're extreme kayakers. things do happen. we make sure we're surrounded around good mates to be able to deal with those situations. as you can see from the video, i had an expert team. >> i've got him. >> reporter: after a few tense moments, he climbs up on to a rock. and he gets by with a little help from his friends. >> and i hope my wife doesn't fin

john muller is here with the details. good morning, john. >> it's called the wheel of death. it almost earned its name. a man that fell from the wheel remains in the hospital. for cirque du soleil, the timing couldn't be much worse. it's called the wheel of death. this morning, one cirque du soleil performer is lucky to be alive after falling from this double-wheeled contraption. that spins performers through the air. sources tell abc news junior espinosa is in stable condition after slipping off the wheel on friday night. cirque du soleil would not confirm his identity but told abc news the show was halted and the artist transported to university medical center. in 2011, lara spencer got a rare behind the scenes look at the wheel of death. this camera shows the point of view of the performer as they swing, like a pendulum, without mm9ñ according to the las vegas sun, the accident comes four days after the osha fined cirque du soleil more than $25,000 in safety citations. this, after 31-year-old performer, plummeted 94 tweet to her death last june. >> her body seemed out of

john muller has the story. >> reporter: with the high-flying maneuvers, they resemble urban acrobats. flip after flip. jumping from buildings. or floor to floor. scaling the ledges. and running. through the real-world obstacle courses of their own design. >> basically, you're trying to get from point "a" to point "b" in the shortest amount of time. by jumping over stuff. >> reporter: it's called parkour. and its popularity is gaining all over the world. but this morning, many are questioning the risks involved in this high-stakes game after a northern california teen was found unconscious with serious head trauma. police say he may have fallen off a roof while attempting parkour. >> detectives discovered that several months ago, this young man and several of his friends were actually here on this same campus and were engaged in parkour. >> i see videos of it on facebook. just never from, like, that high of a roof. >> reporter: parkour started in france. but gained notoriety, after being featured in the james bond film, "casino royale." and matt damon's "bourne identity." ♪ youtube a

john muller has the story. >> reporter: this morning, a twisted crime that may have been borne 30 years ago. >> shots fired. >> reporter: dramatic moments friday night as police responded to a call of an armed man outside the home of the minneapolis prominent doctor, steven larsen. things escalated quickly and turned deadly. >> shots fired. >> start ambulance. >> reporter: the unidentified man shot dead. inside the home, the body of the 74-year-old doctor, also shot dead. his wife out of town. >> we've got one more down in the house. >> reporter: this morning, the medical examiner's office releasing details about both deaths. one of the men, ted hoffstrom. cause of death for hoffstrom and larson, gunshot wounds. a source with knowledge of the case telling our affiliate that dr. larson actually assisted in hoffstrom's delivery 30 years ago. >> there is no way anyone could have had any ill-will towards him. >> reporter: he delivered thousands of babies over his 33 years of practice, winning awards and international acclaim. colleagues say the father and grandfather was nearing retirement.

john muller has the latest. >> reporter: good morning, robin. it had all of the makings of a halloween nightmare. this morning, that bus driver remains in the hospital. but all ten children are safe and uninjured. the kids were thinking to get to the top of the bus. so the rescuers can pull them to safety. ten kids and bus driver are flipped over in this creek. the bus flipped off this low-lying bridge, following two days of rain. incredibly, it was these kids who sprang into action. as the clock ticks, they escaped through a hatch on the top of the bus. >> i went through the window. it was a hard time getting everybody out. >> reporter: patiently, and bravely, they sat on top of the bus as they waited for rescue. >> we had to get out really quick. through the imagine door. and we were so cold and wet. and there's water in my shoes. >> it was cold? >> reporter: the older kids, up to 13 years of age, helping the younger. >> i'm the oldest. me and the bus driver was the last out of the bus. so we all got out safe. >> reporter: minutes after the bu
