breaking news from napa, a wind driven brush fire has broken. the good news is crews are making progress on containment. katie marzullo is in the newsroom with new information. >> it is go news from the command center. the winds have died down this morning but, still, it is the wind that is pushing the flames. you could be thinking of the rain and napa got the rain but the wind is drying out the moisture. the fire now 50 percent contained and has burned 350 acres and broke out at 9:30 last night. grass, brush, and oakland trees are burning and there are lots of little canyons making for steep access in some areas which is difficult for firefighters. right now, people are out of their homes before midnight authorities evacuated the areas of chimney rock, shady oak and ridge drive and the sheriff department says that is a rural area, 50 homes where 30 to 40 people leaving. an elderly man needed help getting out. he is okay and everyone who wanted to leave is out of harm's way. if you have plans in the area, soda canyon road is closeed. the red cro

i'm along silverado trail right now north of napa in napa county. 300 acres have burned overnight. the fire is 50% contained. it started at about 9:30 last night. here's a closer look at those flames. 50 homes were evacuated at around midnight. that was a mandatory evacuation order. one outbuilding has been destroyed, and, again, the main challenge for firefighters was the wind. it was especially dry coming from the north. >> with these northerly winds and that trace amount of rain that we did get, it just wasn't enough to do any good for us. it probably did slow things down just a little bit, but these north winds with the humidity being so low they dried the vegetation out quickly. >> and here's a look at some of the areas affected right now when it comes to road closures and evacuations. silverado trail, loma vista drive shady oaks road and ridge drive. we're going to have a better idea after 7 amount of 7 a.m. of exactly how large this fire is. one firefighter was injured overnight fighting this fire as well. he was hit in the head by a wine barrel that came loose. he was taken
