the suspected gunman, 23 dwreerd paul 23-year-old paul anthony ciancia, had sent a text to his family in new jersey early yesterday telling him he was thinking about taking his life. we're live at lax as that airport tries to get back to some sem ambulance of normalcy. >> reporter: yeah, are good morning. you have more than 1500 flights impacted by this. that equates to 168,000 passengers are who are impacted in some way because of this shooting. terminal three is closed. we don't know when it will reopen. a lot of people want to go back into the terminal and get their luggage. when this happened people basically hit the exits and left everything in place. so people have been coming up to us asking when they can go into terminal three. the f.b.i. said it's still nexting that area. it's still very much a crime scene. in terms of the shooter and his motives, investigators are still trying to pin point why he went into that terminal and started shooting at tsa officers. this is somebody who espouseed anti-government views and clearly had it out for tsa officers. terminal three is closed.

anthony ciancia artie's ramon glinda joins us now from l.a. with the latest ramona you've spent a good portion of the day at l.a.x. today what do you see while you were there and what's the latest on this story. that's right sam as you mentioned authorities have now confirmed the identity of the suspected shooter as twenty three year old paul anthony c. and c. a regionally from pens of ill new jersey it's been reported that he was living here in the l.a. area most recently the f.b.i. is in charge of the actual shooting investigation and has reportedly busy did the father of the younger c.n.c. in new jersey for questioning it is confirmed that one t.s.a. agent has died as a result of. his identity has yet to be released so we now have a name of the gunman there were reports that he may have been targeting t.s.a. agents specifically of course one person killed in this incident was a t.s.a. agent give me more information on the yeah in fact a number of t.s.a. employees were wounded during this shooting law enforcement agencies have given informat

they say he's paul anthony ciancia, age 23, originally from new jersey. they say he was carrying written material which they described as viciously critical of the government in general and tsa in particular. police in pensville, new jersey say he sent his younger brother a text message earlier today in which he said he was not going to be alive much longer. police say when the family notified them of them, they called authorities in los angeles who checked his apartment, but found he was not there. they say his roommates said they knew of nothing wrong. state and federal officials say airport police shot ciancia several times in the chest. they discovered he was carrying a shoulder bag containing this written material they describe as harshly anti-government with specific references to the tsa. both state and local officials have no record of trouble before from paul ciancia. all the shooting victims were tsa employees. investigators say he seemed to be singling them out and even asked some people he encountered in the airport if they worked for the tsa.
