we're also following breaking news on the peninsula. crews on the scene of a crash where a car plunged hundreds of feet off a cliff. damian trujillo is live in san mateo county off highway 92 with a rescue that just wrapped up. >> did it, laura, good morning. it was a dramatic rescue. we're on highway 35 and 92 and only because we lit up the background can you see. but it's really dark. they had to bring in a helicopter with special lights and do this rescue. let's show you the images. they are spectacular images. four people were in this car who went off the embankment here off highway 92 and down between 300 and 500 feet below. one person in the vehicle was able to climb up and get on the roadway and call for help. that's when rescue crews arrived. the crews were able to lift them up to safety and then take them to sf general. it took about four hours to get this operation going and done with. but they were able to get those four victims out of there and back into safety. highway 92 remained closed so a big inconvenience for the folks

computer models bringing up that batch of downpours toward of the middle of the day on the peninsula and down to the south bay. scattered showers continuing into the afternoon as well and maybe some lingering showers into tomorrow morning. temperatures expected to be cool 50s and 60s for highs. next couple of days, we are going to watch those showers come to an end. much warmer weather on the way with some offshore winds maybe some temperatures back up into the 70s. then it looks like we'll keep things dry in the first part of next week. sunrise 6:56. sunset 4:55. you may see it with some towering cumulonimbus clouds. >> that would be neat. >> i haven't heard that since science class and i don't even know when. by the afternoon for the peninsula, siglightly cooler. for san francisco, right along the embarcadero, partly cloudy skies. i mean to talk you to the rest of the microclimates. very temperate conditions. not too many extremes here. but the one spot with the most extremes will be the north bay. take a look at this morning temperatures starting off in the 30s. then in the afternoon we're going to go into the 60s. the biggest concern in the forecast at this point will be that air quality. there we go. we got it fired up here. we have a tuesday spare the air alert in effect for the north bay. so as we round things out for thanksgiving, a slight chance of showers at this point. temperatures in the mid 60s. san jose, that means a 65% chance here of some showers. as we head throughout the day, it looks like we are going to see a real beautiful forecast coming our way by 11:00 a.m. as you get that second round of turkey in, mid 60s for the forecast. it's going to be an awesome evening for us. >> i will overeating on thanksgiving. >>> still ahead

on the peninsula there. you may see a couple of showers. that's because the storm system that's spinning off to our west feeding us cloud cover we had it once again today we'll have it again tomorrow the rainfall will scoot down to our south. los angeles, san diego, arrange county, getting some rainfall but not us. we will miss that, thanksgiving will be rain-free. now, as that low moves out something new is going to move in. it's another big strong ridge of high pressure. it will be with us through the weekend. a lot of you have four days off from work and the kids likely more than that from school. weather from friday through sunday will be dry. the dry end to a dry november. but the sunshine will be back friday, saturday, sunday each day looking mainly sunny. next week, big changes. much cooler and cloudier a chance of rain. it will be a little taste of winter for early december. but enjoy the dry weather that we'll have for the next several days. tomorrow cloudy, sunshine is back on friday. highs for you

a smooth flow of traffic along the peninsula and the south bay. the slow spots you saw, you see the alta mont pass and we have interchange. it's congested through livermore. we're starting the build for 680 into sunol. below 60 miles per hour but that is continuing the trend with all of these folks heading into the area. a bigger issue we head to the castro valley y, and a lot of folks aroadway west 580 because of that deadly crash north there. they are going to head to 238 onto 880. a fender-bender has cleared but that's more distraction south past the scene or north as an alternate. 238 or even 98 to get away from this backup. the last good cute off before this crash. west 580 at mcarthur. two lanes blocked. there was a pedestrian on the roadway, and the investigation continues. some out to 13 as well. we're watching for heavier traffic and heading up to the bay bridge. we see the backup as the metering lights were turned on. not so bad here but the lanes are backing up past west grand tof now. moving into the south bay, still close to 60 miles
