vanessa ferrera is a former walmart worker who says she was fired for organizing for better wages at the store. she told "the plain dealer" today that the company needs to stand up and give its employees a living wage so they do not have to worry about whether they can afford thanksgiving. joining us now is vanessa ferrera, a former walmart employee, a member of the organization united for respect at walmart called our walmart. it's a group that's trying to unionize walmart stores. ms. ferrera, thank you very much for being with us. nice to have you here. >> thank you for having me. >> what'd you think when you heard about this canned food drive at a northeast ohio walmart? were you surprised by that, having worked at the store? >> i was outraged. outraged. >> when you worked at walmart, i understand that you were involved in essentially a protest action against the store, organizing for better wages, and that resulted in you losing your job. what happened there? >> they retaliated against me. they didn't fire me right away. they surveillanced me and intimidated me, and they fired me
