jesse gary, "nbc 10 news." >>> sergeant bowe bergdahl is back in the u.s. the former taliban prison near flew from germany. it was last month when this video surfaced of sergeant bergdahl being released by his taliban captors, he was part of a secret prisoner exchange, five taliban members were released from the u.s. prison at guantanamo bay. this morning bergdahl is in san antonio, texas. he is expected to be admitted to a medical center and be reunited with family members. we'll have a report from san antonio coming up this morning at 4:45. >>> new this morning investigators are looking for the cause of an apartment fire in bucks county that left more than two dozen people without a place to stay. flames hit the building along cedar avenue in bensalem last night. crews managed to contain the blaze to a boiler room but there is smoke damage to several of the apartments. nobody was hurt. the american red cross is helping the victims. >> 4:34. to the latest on the i-495 bridge closure. today the u.s. transportation secretary will be in wilmington to take a t

these iraqi soldiers, prisoners of isis, in a video not verified by nbc news, are being forced to swear allegiance to the al qaeda offshoot that overran their position. one refuses and is executed. the others agreed, but they, too, were later found dead. they are getting stronger, joined by supporters of saddam hussein and sunni tribal leaders. in mosul they march together on their way to hang an iraqi soldier. this weekend, the militants released pictures of dozens of iraqi soldiers being led to their death. the iraqi army is now fighting back with air strikes and thousands of new recruits. but the insurgents have their sights on baghdad, and if they can't get to it, they may try to send in suicide bombers instead. it is strange to come back to baghdad and see it like this. this is normally the busiest market in the city. today all of the shops are closed, and this street is normally full of traffic. today, hardly anything. and there are gunmen on every corner. some are soldiers. many are shiite militiamen responding to a call to arms from their religious leaders. they're ready to defe

"nightly news" from normandy tonight begins now. >> this is "nbc nightly news" with brian williams. reporting tonight from normandy. >>> good evening. when they were young on a terrible day 70 years ago today, they dropped into the woods in parachutes, flew overhead in war planes and wave after wave on the beach with machine gun and artillery fire raining down on them from above. it was an enormous gamble. they paid under 10,000 souls rest in eternal peace behind us, some of them, right where they died. yet their efforts turned the tide in the war and helped to save the world. it was a beautiful day here today. made more beautiful by how many of them made it back one more trip to normandy for the men who already took it once. years ago, tom brokaw gave a bunch of them the perfect title, the greatest generation. here today tom was back as well to witness this 70th reunion. ♪ >> reporter: this is why we're here. here above the beaches of normandy just beyond the water that brought liberty at a great sacrifice. for those who survived that day and for so many others, this is a journey
