that was a making million dollar bullish bet to the upside. i will say it had been hard to catch the falling knife in energy. we addressed this a couple of times on the desk. so i can completely understand when you start seeing people making bullish bets in the options market, this has been a volatile space. this seems like it could potentially be catalyst that sends things higher. there's a good reason to use options because every effort to try to catch this on the way down has failed many times over. so from my perspective, i think this is probably the best way to try to make a bullish bet. i would go along with this. >> how do the charts look? >> there's two two times of stunts. you take advantage of something strong likely to get stronger. or something so bombed out that you can catch a ricochet. the key not to take aid owe sin karatic risk. there's good shares that pick up all commodities. it's over sold. we plan for a balance. >> it's interesting. we talked about it earlier in the week. we saw huge long dated call spread. risking almost

the betting results still applies to american elections. some good news, just last week the regulators did approve one not-for-profit prediction and the catch is that the american regulators limited how many people can bet and how many, they can be no more than $850 each. the regulatory limits are just stupid and they make the polls less accurate and they deprive us of accurate information. because prediction markets work better for two reasons. the first is that there is wisdom in crowds. >> you see this when contestants are stumped, they can call an expert or pull the audience. the audience is not made up of geniuses, but a study found that they beat the expert and the audience got the answer right 91% of the time and the other reason that prediction markets are more accurate is because people bet. they put their own money where their mouths are. and that focuses the mind. so what if did the prediction markets say about future elections? that there's a 40% chance that hillary clinton will be america's next president. 40% but that doesn't

i bet they'll be pushing all things retail if they had a tax cut of similar magnitude. how about ross stores and tgx specifically? sure they're trading above historical norms, but many stocks are. more importantly, they really haven't done anything this year. ross is up just 8% and tgx is down 2%. hardly the kind of stocks that have run away to the upside. both are excellent retailers. i like both of them. all week we've been pleasantly surprised by the way retail stocks have acted. consider that both macy's and nordstrom cut forecasts. but buyers flocked to them anyway. in part because of their commentary about how well they're set up for the holiday season. macy's took care to mention that the pump price figured importantly in the strong quarter. last night, the ceo of popeye's came on here and credited lower gasoline prices one of the chief reasons her company has put up miraculous 7% same store sales growth. i think wal-mart also got a huge boost from cheaper gasoline. wal-mart is a lot better than it used to be because of some important changes to its lineup, inclu
