omar villafranca reports. >> what do we want? >> justice. >> when do we want it in. >> now. >> reporter: what started as a peaceful protest outside the ferguson police department escalated thursday night. police moved in and arrested several people after protesters blocked traffic. the latest confrontation comes as the community awaits for a decision from the grand jury on whether to indict ferguson police officer darren wilson. he shot and killed unarmed teenager michael brown during a confrontation in august. the grand jury decision could come any day. at least a thousand local police officers have gone through special training in how to deal peacefully with protesters. today the department of justice issued new guidelines for police departments across the country. >> the justice department -- [ inaudible ] -- to work with the communities that they serve, to minimize needless confrontation. >> reporter: in nearby st. louis, the mayor has asked for an additional 400 national guard troops to support local police. they're expected
