and the poconos starting off at 34 degrees. as we head into the rest of today, we'll continue to see foggy skies, clouds and also light rainfall on and off on your wednesday before temperatures eventually push into the 50s. our range today between 51 and 54 degrees. a southwesterly wind 10 miles per hour. and as we head into the rest of your workweek, i am tracking another round of rainfall and temperatures drop down a bit. not as bad as what we saw yesterday. so, i'll go over your seven-day forecast in about ten minutes. but for now, let's check in with nbc 10 first alert traffic reporter katy zachry. good morning. >> good morning, brittney. as you said, drivers will be dealing with a foggy start. i'll show you some of the fog in our cameras in a minute, but first, a few incidents for drivers in new jersey. there is an accident on the new jersey turnpike southbound right as you pass exit 2, which is the exit for route 322. it involves a tractor-trailer. i'm told it's jack-knifed and there is a vehicle off the road. also, for d

teens in the poconos. lots of clouds out there and we're going to keep it pretty cloudy all day, all night, even into tomorrow. not a lot of sunshine around that big slow moving nor'easter. it's covering hundreds and hundreds of miles. not much on the radar, at least close to philadelphia. the area i'm watching is coming down from new york state into northeastern pennsylvania. you can see the movement. it's around that big nor'easter. the atmospheric conditions are favorable for this holding together, at least for several hours, certainly coming through the poconos and that's why there's a winter weather advisory there. there may be several inches of snow falling in that area later today, tonight and into tomorrow. the futurecast showing all the clouds and some snow showers at times coming especially in the northern sections. once in a while we get something coming even down through the philadelphia area. it's something we're going to have to be watching through the afternoon and tonight. once again, the t

it's closer to the poconos. down to about 1 mile for allentown, 2 1/2 miles in reading, 9 miles in pottstown. so, increasing visibility. things are improving in that area. for philadelphia, our visibility is down to 5 miles. our wind speeds will continue to shift out of the south throughout today. it's going to be a breezy and windy day with wind speeds close to 30 miles per hour as we head into the rest of the afternoon. satellite/radar shot shows where the showers are, mainly along the i-95 corridor, pushing into south jersey. we'll continue to see more moisture streaming in from the southwest. and our future weather shows us that by 1:00, 2:00, we'll see pockets of moderate rainfall, but it won't be a total washout or anything like that for today. we do expect the rain to remain light for the most part. then for the rest of today, expect temperatures to be above average, between 51 and 54 degrees. light rainfall and warmer than what we saw yesterday. i'll have your seven-day forecast, coming up. >>> just abou

pocono, below 2 miles in allentown. same thing in reading, close to 1 mile just for the visibility, 1/2 mile in lancaster, 4 miles in pottstown, 5 in wilmington and 3 miles in dover. so, needless to say, if you're in any of these areas, you do want to allow a little extra time, go a little slower as you're heading to work. we're also dealing with wet roads from the light rain moving through our region. right now, 34 degrees in the poconos, 37 in allentown, 39 in quakertown, high 30s in doylestown, 41 in philadelphia, 39 in washington township, 44 in mt. holly. and closer to the shore, we're in the low 40s. avalon at 42 degrees. heading into the rest of today, we'll continue to see our wind speeds coming up from the southwest. gusty wind speeds pushing into the rest of your afternoon. we'll see winds gusts sustained closer to 25 miles per hour, gusting up to 27 in atlantic city and breezy conditions expected in the poconos. satellite/radar shot shows those light showers moving up from the southwest along with a warm fron

and up to 30 in mount pocono. they're a little better overnight, but still windy overnight, breezy on monday, and then we're going to bring back the wind big-time on tuesday. finally dry today. we'll see sunshine and keep it clear throughout the day. into the nighttime hours. monday, some things begin to change. clouds increase throughout the day. rain arrives at night, mainly after midnight and that's ahead of the coastal storm that will bring us rain. heavy at times on tuesday. talking one to two inches, locally higher amounts in some spots and also looking at some very windy conditions. eagles, we're looking at 45 for a kickoff and by fourth quarter, 38 degrees. windy the entire way through. today, 45 to 48. 50 is normal for this time of year. winds, that's a big story today. winds could be gusting over 25 miles per hour. you saw that right now, 40 miles per hour in philadelphia, or in mount pocono, up to 30 in philadelphia. by monday, clouds on the increase. tuesday, that's our coastal storm, rainy and windy.

for icy spots in the poconos. that is the only advisory that continues. we have had some ice accumulation, though, over the course of the afternoon and the evening. in the poconos .3 of an inch in reading nearly a tenth, pinterest 06 in doylestown. pottstown .07, just rain in wayne. temperatures in the 40's, 50 in atlantic city and wildwood and allentown even improving at 35 degrees. we're up to 44 in willow grove, quakertown 39, pottstown and doylestown at 38 degrees. we will watch the warm southwesterly winds build in ahead of our next frontal boundary. so tomorrow really warming up. we'll wake up to temperatures in the 40's. by the afternoon we're in the visits. this front moves through tomorrow afternoon, the wind shift and we'll be seeing cooler air move in. with the cooler air comes the drier air and the sunshine. thursday will be our only sunny day this week and then another fast moving storm moves in. we cloud it up on friday and more rain. so saturday looking like a rainy day. here's what it will look like tomorrow morning. mostly cloudy, some ar

kind of a wintry mix in the pocono mountains. a little bit of freezing rain that extend down into the lehigh valley, though it's starting to diminish. good news, the temperatures slowly climbing even before sunrise. steady rainfall in new jersey while it continues to take a break for delaware, no rainfall about a quarter of an inch is on the ground in delaware while parts of new jersey already have two plus inches of rain. that continues to stream into burlington and mercer counties. gusty winds, we've got them this morning. these are sustained winds at 18 miles an hour in philadelphia. the gusts go even higher. that's the case at the shore, too, where they're gusting to 37 miles per hour. look at the rain at 9:00 this morning. the moderate rain moves inland. still some snow falling in the pocono mountains, but that will diminish as warming takes place even in the mountains at noontime today. less of the moderate rain, but still rainfall and in delaware as well. tapers off at the shore and the rain threat will continue into late

the poconos will see accumulation tonight. flood watch in effect for north and east of philadelphia. that's where the heaviest of the rain is. we're also getting a back side of the storm just in the western suburbs. eventually, as the colder air comes in, some of that could change over to snow. we're seeing a little bit of that up in some of the poconos right now. just in the last few minutes, a bit of a mix with some snow. you can see on the futurecast, periods of rain as we go throughout the day. but the changeover is generally coming after midnight tonight, except for the poconos, it will come sooner. this is one of the computer models. to give you an idea of what the potential is, predicting up to three inches of snow in the poconos by tomorrow morning and even some as we head down into the north and western areas by tomorrow evening. that is a possibility. here is another model. as we see again, north and west starting in the poconos and there may be bands of heavier snow in some of the western counties, berks county and

a few light showers in the poconos. the rest of the area starting to see a small wave of light rain moving in up through the philadelphia area, all the major interstates, extending over to parts of new jersey along 295. this is all moving in from the south. we have moisture that we're going to work with over the next few days. tomorrow not an extremely rainy day, showers in the morning but christmas eve does look to be the wettest day in the forecast. here's future weather. as we go through the rest of the evening, spotty, light showers. this carries over into tomorrow morning. 8:00 some of the area will be seeing showers, low clouds, even some fog in the morning. then we go into wednesday. you see heavier rain starting to move in. morning hours parts of the area could see heavy rain and then through the afternoon we have padres of rain moving through, some of which could be heavy. as we go into christmas day we start to clear out through the day. the winds start to pick up. it will be a windy, colder day. at least we'l

where the rain showers will turn to wet snow, 2 to 5 inches expected in the poconos tomorrow. farther down to the south we'll see some snow showers but it shouldn't accumulate. this is a big rain storm for the region, but how much you got depended on your location. lets head over to meteorologist, melissa magee. >> yes, we got a lot of rain in areas of south jersey with this storm system, the nor'easter that moved on through. when you look at the rainfall totals from last night, areas of lakehurst and atlantic city and wildwood. as you move into wildwood and south of allentown, we saw 1 to 1.5 inch of rainfall and less than an inch into lancaster. and tighter on the areas in south jersey, chads worth and pomona and woodbine finding anywhere from 2 to 3 inches of rainfall. peak wind gusts was another big story, philadelphia 36 miles per hour wind gusts and wildwood 44 miles per hour and tucker ton and harvey cedars during the heart of the storm we saw winds in the lower 50s, we are tracking showers and still a dreary evening on the way and newsroom wednesday, the wrap around mo

we do have aç winter weather advisory in the poconos, 29 degrees. it's well up into the 40s toward the shore with the ocean temperature into the 50s. now farther back to the west, we've got temperatures -- look at that, 55 degrees in charleston, west virginia. some of that air will be headed in here for tomorrow. so tomorrow will be the warmest day of probably the next week. we have mostly rain, a couple patches of some light freezing rain or freezing drizzle in the pink there. the heavier rain is back in central pennsylvania but that will be moving eastward, along with all this other stuff in ohio, indiana, illinois. and virginia and west virginia and the futurecast shows that but it seems to dry out the southern portion of that area probably too much. there will probably be less rain in southern delaware and south jersey than we get in the pennsylvania counties. watch what happens as we go through saturday afternoon. less rain saturday morning, then saturday afternoon, here it comes. it's pretty widespread. some of it's on the heavy side. you see

poconos in the mid firts. winds are gusting they're about 25 to 30 miles per hour about that but for the shore, this is better news because these are now more off shourd winds. high tides won't be as bad as what we saw this morning. so we will see some slow relief at the shore. future weather, we'll watch as the changeover happens to snow. shear poconos, lehigh valley, areas north and west. right now temperatures are above freezing. as we go through the overnight,000 we see the snow moving in, temperatures still a little bit above freezing even tomorrow morning. so you may be seeing the snow falling. but it will be hard to accumulate with those slightly warmer temperatures even though i wouldn't call them warm. but in this kind of weather, hard for the snow to stick to the surface. best areas would be grassy accumulations. lighter snow will keep falling through the afternoon. temperatures rising a little more and it's really not until late tomorrow once that snow clears away those numbers start to drop below f

temperature now freezing in the poconos. we're still well above freezing, around 40 degrees, so that changeover may becoming a little later than what some of the models earlier were predicting. the numbers are not really dropping too much. those temperatures aren't getting too much colder. the winds are gusting outside. and this is an offshore wind. so for all the offshore flood, this is a better wind direction that will help to trooes subside the flooding. that will continue to slowly gown e go down. here's a look at future weather. it shows the snow a little later now. as we go closer, we can see that snow developing areas forth and west. not much to accumulate. could make its way to the i-95 corridor for a bit of time. don't be surprised if we see it. later in the day, the poconos will still be seeing that snowfalling. the latest accumulations really not much. but, again, snow showers areas north and west. and you see here this model praelly only showing the best accumulation in the poconos. for tonight, though, light rai

lots of snow that will be falling across the poconos tonight. those big plump juicy flakes if temperatures are right around freezing there. expecting about 1 to 3 inches of snow. on storm scan3 our storm is pulling away but ever so slowly. this is a classic nor'easter. with a nor'easter as it moves up the eastern seaboard you get that northeasterly wind. it's usually very slow, a drawn out process battering the coast as we have seen with flooding and beach erosion and bringing rain and even snow and this is the case tonight. you can see the heavy snow through new york and new england. on the backside of this pulling that canadian air down and changing the rain even in the poconos over to some wet snow. and that will progress to the south, even through the lehigh valley during the overnight. the good news is there's not a lot of moisture out there to change over to to snow. right now in philadelphia, its 42. we have that some light rain and drizzle. allentown 41, millville 41. you can see to the north and west buffalo new york temperatures still

we're in the mid-30s in the poconos. speak affidavit poconos, visibility is down to about 1/4 mile, down to 1/2 mile in allentown, 2 1/2 in harrisburg and 2 miles in philadelphia. so, be careful traveling. millville's also included in that. but closer to the shore near atlantic city, clear visibility at this time, although foggy conditions will remain for at least the next few hours. our scattered showers will continue throughout the i-95 corridor. they're starting to fill in here near camden, gloucester county, parts of burlington county. and it's all associated with a front that is still moving through parts of our region. we are going to continue to see warmer air moving in. so, for today, our average is 49 degrees. 53 will be our high today, above average. 48 as we head into tomorrow. you can expect that temperatures today will stay between 51 and 54 degrees. light rain but warmer conditions expected. and we'll see most of that rainfall tapering off as we head into your evening hours. >>> well, we've got just about e

we're waiting for snow in the pocono mountains. it was a mix of rain and snow yesterday, so accumulations really limited. today a better chance we'll get some accumulating snow in the mountains. this morning, though, completely dry in our area, and with breaks in the clouds, we'll see some sunshine. we're watching the snow to the north in new york state. it will be riding in on winds into the pocono mountains, where there will be accumulation as we head into tonight. your hour-by-hour forecast showing at 9:00, breaks in the clouds north and west. you can see a few flurries into the mountains. but other than that, noontime we'll see a few light rain showers in reading and in allentown with a few scattered snow showers to the north and the wet weather will be streaming into the rest of the area by 4:00 this afternoon. the rain will be falling. i'm expecting some light rain in the area and a chance that we'll see scattered snow showers, but the temperatures will be above freezing, so don't expect to see accumulation. that's why there

winter weather advisory in the poconos, and carbon county. looking outside cloudy skies aboard chopper 6 hd, there was not much of a shadow beneath the ben franklin bridge as temperatures got cooler. if any snowflakes make it down here they will melt on contact. winds out. southwest at 10 to 15 miles per hour. future tracker 6 not really selling the snow all that much as we go towards 6:00 but i would allow some of that to filter in, if we have any after dark, maybe a slick road surface in the northern and western areas. you can see in the overnight hour, we may be in and out of the snow showers to the north. by 4:30 in the morning, there is not a lot going on. tomorrow during it's day maybe a couple more snow or rain showers but not a whole lot coming tomorrow. clouds mixing with a sunny break or two and mainly cloudy skies and windy and a high of 40 in allentown. and we are sitting at that for several hours. 46 in cape may, a little bit better there. by the afternoon 41 and 38 by 5:00 and 36 by 7:00 and even at 9:00 we are still above freez

the exception would be the pocono mountains. and the chance of some scattered snow showers into tomorrow morning, again, no accumulation here. allentown. the clouds have broken. we'll actually see some sunshine once it comes up. right now 40 degrees in allentown. northeast philadelphia 42 degrees this morning with mostly cloudy skies. and millville is at 40 degrees. so, a much milder start. but look at the camera in the pocono mountains. this is camelback. first of all, you can see there is not much snow on the ground here. it is precipitating, but very light stuff. the rest of the area is drying out this morning. see some scattered snow showers into new york state. some of these will be streaming into the pocono mountains at times, but it's not going to be a big snowfall this morning. could see some accumulating snowfall this afternoon, but just a couple inches possible at some of the higher elevations. future weather showing 7:00 a.m. mainly dry for our area. we'll get some breaks in the clouds, see little bit of sunshine this
