melissa. the cbo forecasting a deficit of $468 billion for the current fiscal year, fiscal 2015 or 2.6% of gdp, the lowest level since 2007. that is down slightly from the fiscal 2014 deficit of 483 billion. cbo also now projecting economic growth of 2.8% for 2015. the big picture here for investors for now is that deficits are way down since the financial crisis and stable as a percentage of gdp but only for a few more years according to the cbo. then without any big changes to taxes or spending especially in entitlements deficits start to grow again as a percentage of gdp, hitting $1.1 trillion in 2025, a decade from now and 4% of projected gdp that year. debt will pile on debt, creating quote, serious negative consequences for the economy and policymakers eventually heightening the risk of a fiscal crisis. melissa. melissa: peter, all right the numbers are so big they might as well be in pesos we're up to our debt in eyeballs. isn't that what he just said? let's bring in our very own charli

take the express lanes. >> thank you, melissa. 6:47. right now investigators are going through the wreckage of a plane crash in kentucky trying to figure out how a 7-year-old survived. the crash killed the rest of her family. we are learning new information about how she survived that crash. she had to crawl over tree tops through briar patches, weeds and deep ditches. all of this in the dark wearing socks and shorts. she tried to use a burning wing to light a branch so she could see but that didn't work. one of the questions the national transportation safety board will be asking is where she sat on the plane. they hope that will figure out how she survived. nbc's gabe gutierrez is in kentucky now working on the story. you can watch his report coming up next on the "today" show at 7:00 a.m. >>> today a memorial service will take place for the northern virginia yoga teacher who died while hiking in mexico. hari simran's family said he fell off a cliff and hit his head while hiking. his body was found friday in a ravine. his memorial ser

happy friday at least melissa. >> happy friday to you rick and shirleen. as you mentioned you know it's been tough when we say today when temperatures only are in the 30's it feels like we have a bit of a mild streak on the way. it's been brutal across much of the delaware and lehigh valleys. you could say it's been a brutally cold week with bitter air overhead. the last time we had temperatures above the freezing mark was on monday when we had a high temperature of 50 degrees. tuesday, wednesday and thursday temperatures were only in the teens and 20's and today temperatures did moderate. we climbed up to 36 degrees so far in philadelphia on this friday. outside this afternoon 30's across most locations the exception the poconos coming in at 19 degrees. 31 though, in trenton, 35 in philadelphia. north and west for allentown and reading those temperatures are holding at 30. the upper 20's in lancaster. the winds however are blustery. we have sustained winds anywhere from 9 miles per hour to as high as 23 miles per hour. they're coming in out of the west so

melissa magee is tracking the system and joins us outside of our studios now. it's hard to believe, we have wintry precipitation on the way and sun gives way to increasing clouds and the moisture moves on late tonight and in advance of that precipitation, the national weather service issues a winter advisory, travel will be bad tonight and tomorrow morning and reduced visibility and slick roads we are tracking snow, sleet and changing over to rain later tonight into saturday. here is stormtracker 6 live double scan radar, you can see the swath of moisture from the ohio valley to the southeast we are tapping into all of that moisture from the gust coast states and this makes its way to the southeast to northeast direction. and during the overnight hours and as you wake up tomorrow morning. as far as expected precipitation type for philadelphia the 95 corridor snow turning to rain and there will be a band of ice setting up before you get the gradual change over to rain. from the poconos to allentown and reading, it's mainly snow, but south it's mainly rain. 9:00
