and what was the nfl testing? there were 24 balls used from each team and they were tested for a pressure gage and they all passed. and at half time they did found underinflated footballs. in the second half the nfl said the balls were properly inflated and tested after the game again and they were still properly inflated after the game. sow can take weather out of the equation or anything else but someone touched the footballs. now the nfl has not placed any blame. the investigation is still on going, they conducted over 40 interviews in foxboro and checked cell phone records and surveillance tape and spoke with full-time and part-time employees about what happened an the investigation is still ongoing. but the nfl has confirmed there were underinflated balls used in the first half but in the second half they were inflated. >> you wonder what happened in between. and chris you heard that to factor into what tom brady said on thursday and i want to get your comment. listen. >> i don't put any thought into the foot

a lot of the guys in the nfl are fathers and have families. i think they are very cognizant of the fact that life in the nfl isn't very long. we are moving in a safe direction. it brings me to the next point with defleet gate and all the attention that's being paid to that dle will be rechecked and recertified at halftime as well. >> why are the teams bringing their own balls? why not have the refs bring the official balls that they play with. >> the refs bring balls and give them balls they are certified. give the quarterbacks certain number of weeks to get comfortable with some nfl quarterbacks like their balls a certain way. other guys like their footballs a certain way. i don't necessarily have a problem with that you know, just as long as they are getting certified. but to be honest with you, i think referees check the game balls before the game and then at halftime maybe they lost air pressure i'm not saying how it was done. i think there was some pounds per square inch that was lost at halftime. i think too much attention is being paid

after days of silence of waiting for the nfl to say something, the nfl finally has confirmed that it is investigating and it has found evidence that those patriots's footballs were under-inflated. in a statement friday the nfl said it is work to go find out why the balls were inflated below what league rules allow and whether any noncompliance was the result of deliberate action. they said nearly 40 interviews have been conducted but did not say whether they spoke with quarterback tom brady. to investigate, the league has hired both a law firm and the company that said it has forensic expertise to assist in reviewing electronic and video information. >> the nfl takes their time. they try to figure out what's best for their brand. >> a sports media consultant says for the nfl it's a question of how does this latest brewing controversy affect a brand worth billions of dollars. >> i don't think it helps any time you see your logo or the nfl shield dragged around. it raises the consciousness of what people think in the public who may not be focusing on nfl. it creates opinion. >> total r

the nfl today, what exactly did they say? >> reporter: they confirmed a lot of the reporting out here. this is what we know now officially. the game balls from each team and remember each team gets to provide their own footballs for their own offense, were brought to the official's office at the correct time a couple hours before the game and they were in fact tested by the officials and both team's footballs were found to be in code totally fine. sometime between then and during the first half the patriots' footballs had a lot less air in them. the colts footballs stayed the same. you start to think, i don't know if weather is much of a factor which is sort of one the concerns out there. they confirm now, however, that when they swapped the footballs out at halftime and gave the patriots new footballs, those footballs stay inflated properly. one more factor that probably takes weather out of the equation. so that's some of what they laid out today. they also laid more out about their investigations. they said they have alrea
