nbc 10 katy zachary is live in southwest philadelphia with more. katy? >> in just a few hours crews will arrive in this salt yard and load up their trucks with salt and hit the roads ready to attack this morning's storm. but one of the things they did ahead of today's storm is spray brine on the roadways. brine is a salt water mixture that prevents bonding to the roads and crews started spreading it throughout philadelphia sunday night. i'm told this year they will be spraying brine more often ahead of the storms. now, last year we had already experienced a handful of storms so they learned a lot. new this, the city tells me they're working on technology that would give them live pictures throughout philadelphia so that they can monitor weather conditions and then send out additional plows or salt trucks if needed. now, one thing the streets department did last year is prioritize where they salt and plow. roads around hospitals will get priority like market street and broad street would be plowed first. today because it is a school day and this is expect

but philadelphia on the edge of it. so what to expect with the outlook for the rest of the day. until 7 o'clock still looking at bands of moderate snowfall between 7 o'clock and 11 o'clock the snow tapers off. the evening rush doesn't look bad across most of the region. the exception would probably be in areas over to the east. the latest snowfall map that we've just released over the last hour only a coating to an inch in the western suburbs. some of you might not see much of anything else. about one to four from areas in philadelphia over to about trenton and then you get into that that band where you've got four to eight possible and then 8 to 12 up toward new york. obviously worse as you go toward the north and east and new york is where the blizzard warning still survives. temperatures are cold if you're heading out. 25 degrees in philadelphia, 26 in millville and allentown. and as we go through the day we're going to stay cold. a high temperature of only about 30 degrees but karen the best news the snow in the pro

we may have one to four inches on the ground according to the models in philadelphia. up no matter in allentown it could be more, maybe as much as five inches. during the super bowl it's possible you get an inch, inch 1/2 on the ground while you're watching the game. you want to be careful maybe not having to have to -- too far to travel sunday night. i know a lot of you may be away from the tv over the next couple of days, one inch or more is possible in wildwood. we'll start 3 inches as we go to the end of the storm and go to 6 in philadelphia and the early projections are to go from 6 inches up to the northern suburbs and higher than that by the time all this shut down. that's what to expect as we get through monday morning and the whole thing wraps up. a couple of things could change, number one rain could mix in. some of the models over the last 24 hours have occasionally put some rain into the picture, that would limit the snow, because some of what would fall as snow would fall as rain. the other issue the storm could stay farther south that would bring us less
