and it came to an end yesterday in lewisburg, west virginia, when police arrested edward campbell and his 21-year-old son! this was after a shootout. police say they found the bodies of jerome faulkner and his wife dora inside one of the campbells' vehicles. investigators believe the campbells killed the faulkners and then set their north carolina home on fire. >> this is west virginia police had not stopped them this crime spree would have continued on. >> police said the injured officers were both wearing body armor and their injuries are not life threatening. one of the suspects was also wounded in that exchange of gunfire. >> three people were injured at an underaged drinking party at a hotel. this happened at the hilton hotel on seminary road early this morning. police say several underaged people were drinking inside of a hotel room there when the argument turned violent. one 18-year-old man is hospitalized in serious condition and two others age 17 and 18 were stabbed. but they are expected to survive.

we'll hear from robert byrd of west virginia. he spoke in 1998 inside the old senate chamber. we've had three lecture series this year and we hope to have three more next year. when this idea was first suggested that we have some further attempt to preserve the history of the senate, and that we had a unique time in history because we had such a large number of former vice presidents and leaders of the senate that are still in the senate or are alive that we should take advantage of this opportunity. and the first person who came to my mind as i thought about how to put this together was senator bob byrd. because i knew that he probably more than any of us knows about and cares about the institution of the senate and the history of the senate and all of its procedures and traditions. and so i went to him and said what about this idea? when i left, i had the volumes that he had done on the history of the senate, the history of the senate in the roman empire, and various other books that i could read. i had to ask if i could have a staff member help me get back up to the office.

jonathan martin is live in charleston, west virginia tonight with more, jonathan. >> reporter: well, david life for most people here in charleston, west virginia is back to normal after the water crisis that affected some 300,000 people. and most of people we spoke to over the last couple of days tell you that they are using the water to bathe and cook with, but when it comes to drinking the water that's another story for a lot of people because despite a series of tests and study that his say the water is safe for some people here trust is still a big issue. in bluecross kitchen the crowd has come back. and table conversations no longer seem to focus on what is in the water. a massive chemical spill tasted the water for hundreds of thousands of west virginia residents one year ago. forcing most restaurants to close for at least a week. today she remains cautious. >> we are producing our own without we are a reverse owes osmosis system. >> reporter: she says trust between residents state officials and the water company hasn't been rebuilt. >> i don't think anybody really feels like g

this weekend we're visiting west virginia. next we visit the ohio county public library and discuss some of there rare books and photos. >> known as gateway to the west. the suspension bridge is really a way to get to the west over the river. before that it was going around. as a transportation hub at a city full of creeks, streams, and rivers bridges were an important way to make commerce possible. part of our collection of photographs was the foundation of our collection that was donated to the library by wc brown. these showed various scenes from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. i chose to focus on some of the historic bridges. they still exist. this one was under construction in 1891, the main street stone arch bridge. the longest single span stone arch in the united states in 1892 when it was dedicated the stones were all locally quarried, and one of them fell on a construction worker was killed and drowned. his ghost is said thought the bridge to this day. the the bridge is still in use. the 2nd bridge over like t

in 2013, west virginia surpassed oklahoma to become the third largest shale gas reserve state. west virginia also had the second largest discoveries of natural gas reserves behind only pennsylvania and in fact a full 70% of the 2013 increase in proven gas reserves is because of west virginia and pennsylvania in the marcellus shale play. we have more than enough gas to power a renaissance back home in west virginia and to export liquefied natural gas, supplying lng to our friends and allies increases their dependence on hostile regimes, as we heard from the testimony, and a result will increase our own national security. not to mention a huge economic boon to certain areas of the country and certainly my state of west virginia. i would like to start with a question for mr. smith very briefly. as you know, the lng facility in maryland has received a finding of no significant impact on november the 5th of 2015. that was nearly three months ago. can you give this committee an idea of when the d.o.e. expects to supply final approval of the lng application? >> thank you for the quest
