police reported a significant discovery at andreas lubitz' dusseldorf flat. they didn't go into detail but did say it was not a suicide note. investigators have uncovered indications of mental health problems. and that was reported on the front page here showing andrews lubitz. he used to jog around these streets. they refer to him as a mass murderer. that, of course is the suspicion referred to by the prosecutor in marseille. they also talk about a history of panic and anxiety attacks, depression, a history of mental illness and they say that he had psychological help weeks before the crash. another report here from the german broadcaster, reporting there was a note on andreas lubitz' federal aviation authority file referring to an episode of mental illness, and this note reportedly recommends regular psychological assessment. and just one final report coming from the dutch telegraf today, that andreas lubitz crashed the plane into the same alpine mountainside where he loved to go gliding, where he'd been going gliding since he was 12 years old. all of these

we are learning more about this co-pilot andreas lubitz. according to a newspaper, he had a live-in girlfriend who worked as a school teacher not far from where he lived in dusseldorf about 30 minutes away from where i am right now. according to media reports here in germany and elsewhere, investigators have found a lot of prescription drugs inside of his apartment. in fact, "the new york times" is reporting that he may have suffered from a psycho somatic illness and he may have had vision problems but a german aviation source i spoke with said he was tested this past summer and passed his recertification test and that his vision was tested during that exam. louv lufthansa says it's hard to believe he had vision problems but a lot to learn here. one pilot who flew with him once before made an emotional announcement before takeoff and that has taken over social media. diana has more on this story. >> reporter: i'm in the town which is the town in german which lost 16 school children in that air crash and two pilots and there is a palm sunday

we are right outside of andreas lubitz's apartment in dusseldorf germany. these officers came in plain clothes. they were inside for about an hour and a half as i point out, and they walked out, at least one of them was carrying a big box, possibly of even more evidence. there were papers in that box. we don't know exactly what was in there but what we do know is they made that discovery here yesterday. the ripped-up medical note that rene talked about, among other notes that he apparently didn't share with his employer and we also today went to a medical clinic where he apparently visited as recently as march 10th. this medical clinic the dusseldorf university hospital released a statement today saying that he had been there twice in february and in march, but that he was not treated there for depression. the prosecutor's office today would not specify whether his illness was physical or mental. despite these media reports that he was being treated for depression. so that does still remain a mystery. cnn has been speaking to people who knew lubitz. we have
