matt delucia is live where investigators continue to look for a cause. tell us about the people living there. they are out of their homes. >> reporter: that's right. some of the residents are staying at lincoln high school not far from here. i want to get out of the way and show you, this is an active scene here. as we mentioned a couple moments ago, academy road is shut down here at home avenue. it's been like this going on 12 hours now. here is video of the four-alarm fire as it burned out of control several hours. the call came in around 4:45 yesterday afternoon. the wind made things worse, spreading the fire that originally started in the basement utility room and worked into the walls. residents and people who live nearby watched at 130 firefighters worked to put this one out. >> never seen anything like it. this is the most devastating thing i have seen in my life. >> reporter: the cause of the fire is unknown this morning. five injuries reported and more than 100 residents forced out of their homes. again, there is a shelter at lincoln high school

matt delucia has been getting updates from the scene. in the last 30 minutes you spoke to the pastor of the church? >> reporter: that's right, vai. he was the person to discover this fire at 3:30 this morning. he said he couldn't sleep, smelled smoke and went out to find out what was going on. let me show you, he lives right in that building on the right side of this structure. there's a large police and fire presence out here. take a look another live view from skyforce 10 over the scene. you can see just how much damage there is to this building. we are told this is a historic building dating back to the 1800s. so there are people who come to church here every sunday. of course this is devastating to them. but we'll take a look at some video when the fire was burning. this hit two alarms at one point, so a large response from the crews here in hainesport and neighboring towns. the pastor says it was scary, but he thanks god he was awake. he got his wife and son out unharmed. eight people in all live on this property. again, this buildi

nbc 10's matt delucia is live at the criminal justice center in philadelphia with details. matt? >> reporter: well, sentencing for christina regusters has been pushed back three times now. and the district attorney's office is pushing for a life sentence. christina regusters was convicted last year of charges including aggravated assault and kidnapping. the former day-care worker took a 5-year-old girl from a cobbs creek elementary school back in 2013. prosecutors successfully argued that she took the girl home put her under a bed, and sexually abused her, later leaving her alone in a nearby playground. regusters' family and the victim's family have been very emotional through all of this. regusters herself had no emotion after the verdict and has undergone a standard mental health evaluation. again, the maximum sentence will be life in prison. of course, we will let you know what happens. and of course on the civil side there is a civil suit against the school district of philadelphia resulting from all of this. and so we will be keeping on top of this. but for now, live at the

matt delucia is live in northeast philadelphia for us this morning. matt take us through what happened again yesterday and what a witness is now telling us about the tragedy. >> reporter: well, chris, philadelphia police have been out here at the scene since that officer down call was made 4:45 yesterday. i'm going to get out of the way -- officers are guarding the entire way. we did see detectives going into a church across the street and noticed several cameras on the outside of the church. we know the store where the shooting happened also has surveillance cameras. police say officer robert wilson iii was in full uniform when he stopped into the gamestop store at 22nd and lehigh. after he was already inside two armed men went in to announce a robbery. at this point, it's not clear if they knew wilson was an officer when he engaged them and some gunfire started. some officers say they saw it all, and officer wilson's partner rushed in to exchange fire as well. one of the suspects was injured by a gunshot though it's not clear which officer hit him.
