the golden gate bridge it will remain open during the doyle drive closure. crews they will be working around the clock until early monday morning. >> there is 79 hours of nonstop activity. it will start with removing the median barrier. removing the k-rail and then they need to take out the entire temporary detour and start building up the new roadway. >> reporter: so crews will be replacing the temporary s- shaped roads with new roadways connecting two pairs of tunnels along doyle drive to make it a smoother ride for people trying to get over to the golden gate bridge. crews will be on a tight timeline trying to get this project finished by 5:00 a.m. on monday morning. and really the best advise for drivers is to try to avoid the area of doyle drive if you can. because you will have a lot of folks heading off to work and through the weekend as well. it will be an area you want to stay away from. >> yeah good advice. it looks pretty busy out there. thank you. >>> time is 6:05. commuters also have several options this morning. if you do have to get to the cit

we're talking about doyle drive. let's talk about that because we are looking at the golden gate bridge very closely. we're also looking at the bay bridge closely. look at these commutes southbound 101 looks good. the golden gate bridge is open. when you get past it southbound 101 you get down and everything will be detoured on to the 19th avenue exit getting through san francisco. you don't want to get to the marina district directly. you want to go to the 19th avenue. we will keep watching it for you very closely. let's go to the bay bridge toll plaza. people might use the richmond bridge to the bay bridge. not a bad route at all. if you get on the road early and you go down to the bay bridge right now. any time before 5:30 you get there, you won't see any slow traffic barring an accident. we're also looking at other commutes like the south bay. this is nice and quiet here. 4:48 let's bring my boy steve paulson in. >> sal. >> yo. >> happy friday. >> same to you. >>> lots going on here locally but i thought we would

this is the entrance as you head to doyle drive. you can see the palace of fine arts just to give you perspective. look at how busy they are right in front of us. they needed full access to the place which is why they've been working on this for years. this weekend for 79 hows they needed both sides of the roadways so they can add new ramps and put us on the new presidio parkway. and they've been working on this since 10 p.m. last night. chp officers have been all over the place. you can see one car over there. a lot of people don't know and they're making u-turns and coming down and finding out that's not available. and they're taking alternate routes and coming back to san francisco. the golden gate bridge is available to you but not through here. both directions are shut down. i'm not an expert but you have to go through the presidio and connect onto the golden gate bridge at that point. if you're heading southbound into san francisco if you want to cross the golden gate bridge you'll be forced onto 19th avenue off the golden gat

doyle home? mr. doyle has an absolute legal right to protect himself and to protect his home with the use of deadly force if he believes, if he reasonably believes that mr. gonzalez is coming there to hurt him. now, we know mr. gonzalez hation told law enforcement that, no, i just wanted to go by the house. i want to get his address and file a complaint, but we can hear in part of the 911 call the dispatcher clearly telling mr. gonzalez no, no, no, do not follow him home. and i think that's what happened here. we had a typical situation of road rage, tempers were flaring, but at that point you need to de-escalate, not go chase the guy down to his house and end up in the tragic situation we have. >> that explains perhaps why he ended up there and why he ended up dead, but legally speaking, does what happened on the road even matter with what happened at the house? you have a guy on his own property, this doyle guy, who claims he defended himself on his own property, so is the legal issue really what g

they want today open, not exclusive like doyle drive was. so, i mentioned the tunnels they kept them to a minimum. four tunnels, short, they are wide open and so the tunnels they provide access for people who are walking and taking their bikes to and from chrisy field and the presidio. how gorgeous is that? that is the palace of fine arts. it has taken 6 years to complete. i have been told they are expected to open it early. we gotten used to the big construction projects in the bay area they finish early and ahead of time. they put in buffer zone in there. sky zone 5 giving us a view what this roadway will be like so if people hit the commute in the morning they will be stunned by it, i believe. there is more than a year's worth of work to complete on this project. the road is going to be open but they still have, as you can see, a lot of dirt work and landscaping that has to go on. landscape over the tunnels. again, it has been a long time coming. much better road and as far as the colors, the railing, the light fixtures it blends in. >> i
