walker was raced in a small town in wisconsin. he showed an interest in politics as early as high school and said that president ronald reagan was his role model. he spent a few years in college but did not graduate. he went on to work for the american red cross. his first campaign was for the wisconsin state asystembly when he was just 22 years old. he lost but ran again in 1993 and served in the state legislature in more than a decade. in 2010 walker decided to run for governor of wisconsin. his campaign was centered on reducing taxes and spending, and he won. shortly after taking office in in 2011, walker introduced a controversial right-to-work bill for which he has become infamous. he wanted to reduce collective bargaining for wisconsin state employees, a move that many feel crippled unions. the bill was initially passed, and then struck down by a judge. but it was ultimately held up by the wisconsin supreme court. the measure was so devisive that residents collected enough signatures for a recall in hopes of removing walker

is what walker saying true? break it down for us. >> ed i never thought i'd be on television vetting donald trump in saying that he is essentially right. but the fact of the matter is that you know while trump may be a percentage point off here or there the basic reality of what mideast saying ing he's saying is true. the state of wisconsin historically has had very very vibrant schools and public services, has taken a lot of hits in those areas. and despite scott walker's promises that all the cuts, all the assault os on organized labor would somehow magically make wisconsin a boom state. wisconsin trails far behind neighboring states including minnesota which took a different course. and the final thing i would point out here ed is that many of the criticisms of scott walker are not coming from liberal democrats. there are newspapers in wisconsin that endorsed him for governor back in 2010 that now refer to him as divisive and point out that the many, many flaws in his budgets. and during this recent budget fi

his latest article is a bat scott walker -- is about scott walker getting advice from scott walker. is walker more of a hands-on guy? jonathan: i think his life has been dominated by campaigns and elections. they each have periods of their life when they were not involved in politics. he has done only politics for his entire life. in college, he was engaged in campus politics. this is who he is. mark: i get your point. does that make him like bill clinton? is he more involved, more knowledgeable than bill clinton? jonathan: i do not if he has the same gifts bill clinton has when it comes to politics. bill clinton is a rare talents. there is no question that scott walker has figured out what works in his campaigns today. the question is can you apply what you have done at the state county and the state rep level in wisconsin to a national campaign? that is what is fascinating. can he scale up? to date, it is mixed. he has had good moments. he burst out of the gate. at the same time, he has had stumbles. heidi: what's the downside to this? why can't you be your own best strategist? jo
