our northern virginia bureau reporter -- bureau chief, julie carey, a report with how soon mcdonnell could be locked up and what it means for his wife. >> we know when the fourth circuit court of appeals rejected bob mcdonnell's bid for a new trial or exoneration last month, it was silent on whether he should remain free as he pursued his legal challenge to the nation's highest court. but today, the appeals court issued this mandate, saying it's time to report to prison. and that led to this 49-page filing from mcdonnell's legal team asking the supreme court for a continued reprieve from prison. only the high court now stands between former virginia governor bob mcdonnell and prison. his conviction last year on public corruption charges car race 24-month prison term, but he had been granted bond to remain free while he pursues legal challenges. this order issued today by the fourth circuit court of apeels can change that denying his bid for freedom t is a jolt for mcdonnell's friends. >> i've been practicing law for 28 years, i have seen lots of people go to jail but never had a frie

officer sean bottleon was shot to death saturday in memphis during a routine traffic stop pfn richelle carey reports. >> a memphis police officer shot and killed after pulling a car over. officer sean bolton was a former marine who served in iraq. shot multiple times on a street in the southeastern part of the city. >> the driver was turned into police and since released without charge. the passenger of the vehicle 29-year-old jermaine willburn, still at large and a warrant are for first degree murder has been issued for his arrest. >> bottleon's sister issued a statement. my brother's life was just beginning aonly to be ended by a tragedy. the mayor of memphis asking for prayers saying bottomon's death speaks volumes of the hazard of police work. >> there are so many guns in our streets in the wrong hands. at any given minute in a 24-hour day they're dealing with folks who have no rules of engagement. >> sean bottleon is the third memphis police officer killed in the line of duty in less than five years. he was just 33 years old. >> 70 years ago this week modern warfare was changed forever.

julie carey, news4. >>> i'm meagan fitzgerald in bethesda, where a retired navy s.e.a.l. was hit and killed this morning. he was riding his bike along massachusetts avenue here when he was struck by a car. on friday morning at 6:15, montgomery county police say 64-year-old timothy holden was traveling in the eastbound lane when the crash happened. family members say holden was a hero in many ways, he proudly severed his country. he loved his family and his community. >> that is probably the very tough part for me, i felt like he was invincible. >> at 5:00, what this naval s.e.a.l. did for his country and why few knew about his sacrifice. >>> while no one was hurt in the derailment, thousands of commuters were delayed for hours in stations like one and they were shut down. an employee doing a routine track inspection had identified the problem but deleted it from his report. today, metro says it was a combination of that human error and a gap in metro process that led to the derailment. now that employee has since resigned, but coming up, you are going to hear from congres

bureau chief julie carey joins us from rock ridge high school in ashburn with more on this. julie? >> reporter: well, there's something new here at loudoun county, it's called one to the world. that's kind of a lofty title and it is pretty ambitious. what it means is all students from high schoolers down to elementary aged kids are going to have to take what they have learned to the classroom and bring it out into the community. >> the answers are -- >> reporter: high schoolers in loudoun county return to a big change, erased from the school calendar, those mandated midterm and final exams. testing isn't gone for good, but it's up to teachers to decide when and how to assess students. >> we want students still to learn the content of the curriculum but also want them to develop the competencies that they need in order to make meaningful contribution to the world. >> reporter: enter the new one to the world initiative. students across the district will spend more time on collaborative projects, required to take what they learned in the classroom outside. this government teacher can'

incredible mark in the world of music and just celebrated 20 years and with notable entertainers like mariah carey, janet jackson, escape. i had a chance to ask him about his career, vision and ability to reinvent himself. >> i know your father was in the music industry. how influential do you think your father and mother in your life early on? >> in the beginning my father was truly important as far as putting me in the places i should have been. my father was a tour manager for brick and sos brand. this was the first of the atlanta music scene. a lot of times when things happen in this city that was musical i was always just watching it because my father was working. he put the battery in me to want to do this. >> you could say that you were also a child prodigy because at 19 you were basically given your own company. >> at 17 i produced this group and it was these two girls that i met on tour. i wrote and produced their entire album at 17. when that happened i was in the music business at that point. it didn't sell enough for everybody to really know about it but it did well enough for me at 17
