i'm liz cho. bill is off tonight. >>> sources tell us the gunman killed himself, a security guard was also shot and he has now been taken to election no one hill -- lenox hill hospital. it happened within the last hour at 201 varick street. carolina leid is there with more information. >> reporter: liz, as you can imagine we have an incredibly active scene here with police officers scattered just about everywhere and blocks and blocks broke off right now -- roped off right now as police continue their investigation. this happened right outside of the federal building at 201 varick street, which is at west houston street. we are told that a federal employee, as you mentioned, liz, a guard was shot here sometime this afternoon. we got the call around 5:00 this afternoon and was taken to lenox hill with a traumatic arrest. the shooter then shot himself here at the scene and he died of his injuries here at the scene. the federal building houses many agencies including a passport office and the post of
