this is a novel set on the world of the upper east side of, young elite, upper east siders post preppies in the first decade of the 21st century. you have all the wealth fl manhattan before the stock market crash and here's this young woman who goes to work at people like us. she's sort of been on the fringes of this world. her mother made sure that she went to the right schools but world. >> right. >> you get her -- she's trying to buy her way into the excitement and also what happens when the lies begin to take a toll and also what happens in her personal life as she confronts. she doesn't really have a lot of money. but she gets deep into this world. it's a lovely, fun novel. it's jaundiced enough about that world that you feel good about reading it. it's intellectually stimulating enough as asa tire. you're jealous of the wealth. you're pulled in. but you're also -- so many of the characters are dee testable that you're relieved that you don't want to be these people. it's really a lot of fun to read, very enjoyable and well-written and an intelligent sat ire. >> juicy and intelligen
