that is a concern this morning here in alameda, and also in the city of berkley. they believe a green van has been cruising around schools in both cities over the last week and trying to lure those children into the van. so the alert is out this morning. the driver of that green van was allegedly trying to lure the kids inside. the latest incident here at bridges elementary happened last week. police say the green van cruised by the school on september 18th. 20 minutes later, similar reports from two other schools in berkley. these were described as attempted kidnappings near willard elementary. alameda police are still trying to verify if the two incidents are related in both cities, but detectives want families to keep their guard up and look out for a green van. >> it makes you more cautious. you know, keep an eye out. yeah. not just for my kids, but other kids. >> reporter: berkley police describe their suspect as latino between 30 and 40 years old, dark hair, a mustache, heavy set, and wearing a hat. at this point, alameda police are not confirming if their s

alameda sheriffs deputies shot and killed a suspect early this morning. alex savidge is there with what led to that shootout. alex. >> reporter: sal, good morning to you. the man that was killed this morning was wanted in connection with a shooting that happened just a few hours earlier in oakland and that led to a long pursuit by oakland police and other authorities in this area and finally this man this armed man was cornered here in an alley way that is just off the off ramps here from northbound 238 to east 14th street. there is an alley way between the freeway wall and the neighborhood. that is where there was an exchange of gunfire, a shotout between deputies and the armed man and the man wound up dead. none of those deputies were hurt here and the investigation again is shut down. and the onramp in the area as well. this armed man he went to great lengths this morning trying to escape. oakland police were initially pursuing him after that shooting that happened just after 2:00 a.m. in east oakland. after that, he was spotted driving the wrong way o

and three santa clara county collectional officers are locked up in the alameda county jail. they're accused of beating an inmate to death last thursday. janine de la vega is in san jose with the unprecedented allegations that have stunned the sheriffs office and reaction from families of the inmate. >> reporter: this obviously is not sitting well with the families of inmates who are housed here at the santa claire rap county main jail. some say they have made complaints about abuse in the past which have been ignored. michael kyrie was found dead in his cell last week. a coroner determined his death was from blunt force trauma and beating. these three county correctional officers matthew farris, rafael rodriguez, and jer a lubrin. saying she rejects the notion that these were three rogue officers. >> they don't want people to know the type of heinous and horrific beatings that go on in there. well to me they are like gang members in green and wearing a badge and uniform that they don't respect. >> reporter: the three officers are being held at the santa rita jail in alameda
