the range of 12 to 25 miles an hour across eastern iowa. that is a big improvement considers we had gusts as high as 65 miles an hour. all around, most of the gusts were somewhere in the range of 50 to 58 miles an hour. anything that could blow around today definitely did. but the winds are in the process of backing off. you can see in the forecast as we go through the rest of the night, the winds are down around 22 on the gusts. sustained winds a lot less than that. around eastern iowa, winds in the range of 15 to 20 miles an hour tomorrow. it's going to be a very nice day here in eastern iowa tomorrow. you can see we should reach back up to around 50 at nine time and peak around 52 or 53 degrees. lot os of sunshine -- lots of sunshine anticipated. temperatures were at 60 or a little above today. up north, the snow cover really impacted the temperatures up that way. highs in the mid or upper 40s. highway 20 and south, temperatures were in the 50s. currently it's upper 30s around eastern iowa. temperatures will stay above freezing tonight.

and after that we break out some sun but notice the low 30s in eastern iowa. our temperatures now showing a big range. it's 30 charles city and decora to 48-degrees down around washington so right in there is kind of where that freezing line starting to take shape. that will eventually initiate the snow and tomorrow, look for those temperatures to be plenty cold around eastern iowa with the snow on ground, readings holding in the upper 20s to lower 30s. and there's another system behind this that will eventually impact the midwest on thursday. that one is out here. that has a chance of bring some more snow to eastern iowa so after this system drops about 1.6, roughly, in cedar rapids, next could drop another 4 or 5 and by the time the systems are out of here, the model shows as much as 7-inches of snow in eastern iowa. tonight's forecast has rain or snow becoming all snow, low temperatures much colder by morning, upper teens north to the mid-20s in the south and during the day tomorrow, the snow moves out early and after that, we should go partly sunny tempera

a former iowa governor is speaking to people in eastern iowa today about the medicaid transition to about hohothis change will put thousands of iowans who rely on medicaid at risk. he will hold a town hall at the coralville public library this morning at 10. then culver will speak at another town hall meeting in cedar rapids at 2 this afternoon. thth will be at the cedar rapids public library. meanwhile, a bill that would undo governor branstad's plan to privatize medicaid is moving forward in the state legislature. for now, the state is set to transition to privatized care in less than a month, on march 1st. the transition was supposed to happen january 1st, but federal regulators said the state needed more time to sign-up the more than half a million iowananon medicaid. iowa governor terry branstad says privatization will help cut the rising price tag for medicaid. the administration said costs are expected to grow 21% over the nee 3 years. the state currently spends more than $4.2 billion dollars each year on medicaid. branstad has said privatizing will save roughly $51 million dollars

today, opening statements will be made in a murder trial moved to eastern iowa. alexander fazzino is charged with first degree murder in the death of his wife, emily. her body was found in their home in boone in 2012. her grandfather founded the fareway stores grocery chain. fazzino called police -- saying his wife was unresponsive. he told them he believed emily was trying to kill herself, and that she was addicted to prescription drugs. police investigated it as a homicide -- after the autopsy showed she suffered head trauma. the high profile case was moved to winneshiek county and is expected to take up to three weeks. authorities call it a full court press -- as they search for a murder suspect -- who might be in eastern iowa. murder of a nine- year-old in chicago last year. police believe edwards and two other men lured tyshawn lee into an alley -- where they shot and killed him. authorities call it a gang-related murder. over the weekend, the search for edwards brought u-s marshals to a home on randall street in waterloo. authorities did not find him there,
