lindsey mastis is live this morning from fhp in bradenton, and they have something planned for there later this morning? >> reporter: that's right in a few hours the florida highway patrol will be here, talking about a new awareness campaign, and they want to make sure the drivers know the consequences for failing to stop, and hopefully that will put a stop to so many hit-and-runs. look at these numbers. last year in florida, 92,000 hit-and-runs, and more than 19,000 people got injured, and 186 people died, and here's an example of one local family like this, and stacey grimson's old child died after a tragic hit-and-run crash 2 years ago, and now the driver is serving 13 years behind bars, but grimson says that's not enough considering her son lost his life. >> you could have stayed there to call 911, and you could have stayed there to help his friends who were young kids in a complete pan total chaos. there's always something you can do. it's just to just be there. >> reporter: not only are drivers required to stay at the scene, they are supposed to help anyone injured if they can,

fhp found the jeep that hit a man along this road. today we found out the owner of the suv has hired an attorney and had not talked with investigators. the brother of the victim says they hope they can find the driver. >> they found the jeep and we're looking for the driver now. >> fhp said the damage to the vehicle is consistent with the parts found at the crash. >>> family lost thousands of dollars after they hired a roofer who bailed after they gave him a check. only after that, the guy didn't have a license to do the work. it's illegal to do contracting work without a license. it took them two years to arrest him. and if there's more victims, he >> even with towering oaks and a view of downtown orlando. nothing extravagant about this duplex but the roof cost $9,000 to replace. after investigators say this man took part of that money and ran. >> did you get your money back? >> no. >> in april, 2014, the owner found a website forever seal roofing and she came in contact with david george who promised to rebuild it in two weeks. >> h
