mark davenport has been at both of those scenes this morning, live apartment the scene at north tryon street. mark, what are police telling you? >> reporter: christine, i was told this shop, a gun outlet, attempted burglary here this morning. and i was talking to the owner of the shop here a while ago, t he said they tried to break in the back door of the shop. i went around back a bit ago before police left the scene, show you some of the pictures i took on twitter. i sent out three pictureses this morning, my twitter handle, that first picture the front bumper of a jeep cherokee, that was the car they were ramming in the back door of the gun outlet this morning trying to get in the it was still here on scene when cmpd showed up. nothing was stolen inside but you see on the other picture we were showing you a second ago all the rust in the grass, they tried so many times, there is a decent hill, to slam in the back door. this isn't the only incident overnight at a place that sells guns. another incident on wilkinson boulevard, that was the first place that i went this morning. hyatt

mark davenport joins us now live in charlotte with much more on this story, so mark, tell us about the latest challenge. >> reporter: well john, the latest challenge could hamper the congressional primary here in north carolina. been pushed back from march to june 7th. when they had to re-draw the map in february. it could get pushed back further if this map has to be re-drawn again. here is the issue at hand. attorneys of two voters say the replacement map drawn in february wasn't better than the last one. they argue the lines were drawn with an intentional manipulation of district lines. now a federal panel ordered a new map be drawn in february, this is how it all started after black voters in the 1st and 12th districts. the new map was supposed to be used in the congressional primary in june but now this new lawsuit is calling for judges to reject the new map and re-draw the boundaries. state attorneys have until next monday to respond to those objections. we'll follow this for you right here on wbtv. reporting live i'm mark davenport, wbtv on your side. >> john: breaking overnight

mark davenport joins us live this morning with much more on this story and mark, i find it interesting people who live in the area are not surprised this kind of crash happened, what is going on? yeah, around the crash, that is providence road near 485, we spoke to them back and forth why they weren't so surprised when they hear ambulances, police cars, all emergency vehicles pass by their houses on a daily basis to go to accidents on 485. when they heard about the news they were not surprised at all. i want to show you more from the scene off providence near 485, a man named luis menacho got on the wrong side of i-485 on the outer loop, driving in traffic for a few miles. around 2:00 m. a sunday 2:00 a.m., he crashed head-on to victor castillo. they have not confirmed if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. toxicology report will take a couple weeks. there have been two other wrong way crashes since 2009, neither resulted in death. alcohol was a factor in both cases. the family we spoke to off providence road say they are not surprised these wrong-way collisions don't happen m

mark davenport is live at the scene so mark, what can you tell us about the fire and what about albermarle road, has it reopened? >> reporter: john, not all of albermarle road is reopened right now. going outbound you have one lane closed at this time, they have a fire truck in the lane. police closed that lane for the time being but five of six lanes are are open, all three inbound lanes are are open for drivers this morning. as for the fire i can tell you 50 to $60,000 of damage, that is us. they got here earlier, the fire coming through the roof. they put it out in 18 minutes. the guys were on the roof and the back patio. you see a couple firefighters pulling lines, pulling the hoses back in and out of the building right now, making sure the hot spots are put out. the building has been here 70 years, the el paisano restaurant, there has been four or five renovations, in those 70 years, a lot of things to work through, a lot of roofing to work through. firefighters believe this fire started in the back of the building, i put something out on twitter showing a couple fire investigators wo
