pamela escobar is live. how is this victim tonight the security guard? >> well, paul, police tell us the victim is still in the hospital and that he is a security guard. now, according to the police report, the shooter got away with his car and a gun inside of it. >> like he came up and maybe he was coming back down. >> germaine thompson says his strewn is covered with blood after someone came knocking on his door. that woke up she was getting ready for work. and she heard like knocking on the door. and i guess the guy who was shot was at the door. and she did not answer it. she cracked the door. >> thompson told her not to open the door to the stranger. >> she did crack the door and there was a guy that was hurt. and as you can see there's blood all over the steps. >> that man did find help and was taken to the hospital. cmpd found the security guard on rozzelles ferry road. he told officers he was shot in by a man who flagged him down. the victim claims he stopped for the shooter was shot and his car was stolen. police are investigating the case. they

live here in lincoln county, pamela escobar wbtv on your side. >> we know so many people will be doing that. troopers said at one point the driver told them that driver of the truck, david boyd, that he saw a deer. and they say no other witnesses of the crash claimed to have seen a deer. >> a man is charged in the 2012 murder of a pregnant charlotte woman. darne nicholas brown is charged in the murder of 17-year-old hawa gabbidon and her unborn child. brown shot and killed hawa gabbidon in a north charlotte park. brown was in police custody from an arrest in august of 2015. >> right now police are searching for a driver who they say took off during a traffic stop and hit a pedestrian. this was the scene in uptown charlotte after the incident. police tell us they tried to stop the car near trade and poplar streets when the driver took off. police say the vehicle hit a pedestrian on east trade street. and the pedestrian was taken to cmc with serious injuries. >> and right now police chief troops after video surfaced of an officer hitting a man during an arrest. the suspect on the ground

pamela escobar has one woman's story and she is taking a closer look at violent crime. can you tell us where was that woman when the shooting started? >> well, maureenen the woman said that she did not know the man who shot her. >> she was in a parking lot on the plaza and bought cigarettes at the store and in her car and the hand she was using to change gears was struck by a bullet. a bullet lodged in her hand prevents her from using it and taking care of her five children. police asked her if she was the man who fired in the parking lot. she heard the gunfire and saw blood it took a little bit before she realized she was shot and in pain. she did not want to speak out because she does not understand what happened. >> and what was going on in the plaza was it somebody just shooting at somebody? and they don't know how to shoot a gun? that is what you cannot have. you cannot have bullets spraying everywhere. that is crazy. >> will adams founded team true blue and organizes vigils and he is committed to stopping the violence. >> a lot of the violence of last year the mur

pamela escobar has closing arguments. >> they left the county courthouse after a quick lunch after the jury heard from both lawyers during their closing arguments. bullets from the gun never hit officers and never came close to the officers who were on the ground outside the house back in january of 2014. >> didn't find any. bullet strikes or no tampering issues. >> prosecutors argued that the trained officers testified to hearing bullet strikes nearby and there were three bullet holes in a window pain in the dining room.

all right that's our pamela escobar reporting. the medical examiner talking about the 2010 abuse case involving broderick that. baby suffered from abuse injuries. >> time moore hopes to call a special legislative sessions on the controversial anti-discrimination ordinance. moore says discussions are happening with governor mccrory. the most controversial part allows on allowing transgender people to use the bathroom of the gender with which they identify. now it's expected to go into effect on april 1st. the regular legislation begins on april 25th but under state law the house speaker and senate leader can call a special session if three fifthss of the legislature supports the move -- moore is pushing for a special upcoming week. we'll follow for updates. >> the diocese of charlotte calls for future priests. the bishop made the announcement at belmont abbey college in response to interest in priestly vocational shins. the priest says they will focus on undergraduate men considering the priest hood -- one step before enrolling in
