new york city comptroller scott stringer vowed to audit the new york city board of elections. we'll have more on the new york primary after headlines. in brooklyn, a judge has sentenced former nypd officer peter liang to serve no jail time for killing unarmed african american father akai gurley. in 2014, nypd officer peter liang shot 28-year-old gurley in the darkened stairwell of a brooklyn housing project. gurley was walking down the stairs with his girlfriend because the elevator was broken. following the shooting, officer liang first texted his union representative before making a radio call for help. as gurley lay dying. liang had faced up to 15 years in prison on second-degree murder charges. but on tuesday, judge danny chun sentenced him to serve only five years probation and 800 hours of community service. judge chun also made the rare decision to reduce officer liang's verdict from manslaughter charges to the lesser charge of criminally negligent homicide. following the announcement, akai gurley's aunt, hecicicirtencia petersen, spoke out. >> this is not justice. this

these are all of the congressional districts that are in new york city or that touch new york city. let me just tell you what we're seeing right now. this right here, this is staten island. the 11th district is staten island, the little bit of brooklyn here. this looked like it was going to be trump country. boy, it really is. two-thirds of the vote is coming in here so far. donald trump is running at 82% on staten island. remember we said if you clear 50%, you get all three. it looks like from the 11th trump's going to get all three. here's where it starts to get interesting. this is manhattan here. you see a bunch of districts that are in or touched manhattan. the key is the vote that's come in from manhattan, it's not by congressional district, we can't yet break it down that way. the vote that's coming in from the borough of manhattan, there's more than one-quarter in. get this, john kasich is leading. 46% to 43% right now in manhattan. we don't know which district exactly. there's a little bit of a lag in terms of getting the actual congressional district vote. remember we show

since 2008, there have been five crane collapses in new york city, many of them deadly. a total of ten people have been killed. tonight we're getting the behind the scenes look at how the city makes sure they are safe. >> reporter: the building department said they did do those spot check inspections today but they didn't have to issue any violations. department as they inspected a crane. we wanted to know what they look for during an inspection and how that prevents accidents. >> i'm here to check your license. >> reporter: the i-team got an exclusive look at what a crane inspection entails. we're looking at a crawler crane at hudson yards. >> we check to make sure they stop in the certain position they're supposed to stop. we check the rotation of his cab. we check the counter weights. >> reporter: mayor de blasio called for all cranes to be inspected after the deadly crane collapse in tribeca. there are 29 of them operating city wide but nearly 400 of them registered. generally cranes are supposed to be inspected annually. any time a crane is recon figured or figure t
