live for now in center city, monique braxton, nbc10 news. >> monique, thank you. >>> we have new information about a deadly crash on the garden state parkway that we have been telling you about all morning. we just learned the two men who were killed and two others injured are all from the new york city area. police say the driver lost control of the car. it crashed through a guard rail, flipped several times and plunged into a watery marsh. you are looking at a photo of the car in the water in port republic. officials tell us the two people who died were thrown from the vehicle. authorities found one of them in the marsh. divers recovered the other body. nbc10 was on the scene where the deadly accident happened around 1:15 this morning. the two injured victims were able to get themselves out of the car. rescuers took them to the hospital. they are expected to recover. investigators are trying to figure out what caused that accident. >>> a police officer in delaware county is expected to make a full recovery after he was shot seven times during a drug investigation. >> i'm shot! i'm shot! i'

nbc10's monique braxton is live in feasterville outside that man's home. monique, what are you learning this morning? >> reporter: it appears to have all started to save the family's farm in lancaster county. money seems to be at the root of it. according to investigators. we arrived here about 5:00 this morning, and this is what we found. you can see that police remain on the scene. lower southampton police. you can also see that the home, the driveway, blocked off by crime tape. now, this is the scene as details of the alleged crime came to light yesterday. the girls found inside range in age from six months to 18 years old. according to the affidavit, 51-year-old lee kaplan admitted to sexually assaulting the eldest girl. she had two children resulting from those alleged attacks. police also arrested a couple from lancaster county and charged them with giving their teenaged daughter to kaplan in exchange for his help with their money problems. now, those parents claim the other children in kaplan's house in his possession were also their children. this

nbc10's monique braxton is live in feasterville this morning, and police, monique, are calling this a very unusual investigation. >> reporter: investigators tell us saving a family farm out in lancaster county led to the crimes that allegedly occurred inside this house just over my shoulder. since we arrived about 5:00 this morning we have seen no activity at this home. you see the crime scene tape is up. to the right there you see that investigators from southampton are still guarding the crime scene. this was the scene as investigators descended on the home on old street road yesterday. investigators tell us 12 girls found inside are 6 months to 18 years of age. according to the affidavit, 51-year-old lee kaplan admitted to sexually assaulting the oldest girl. she has given birth to two children as a result of those alleged attacks. police also arrested an amish couple from lancaster county. they've been charged with giving their teenaged daughter to kaplan in exchange for his help with the family's financial problems. lancaster authorities have also been called in to help because o

live now from the digital operations center, monique braxton, nbc10 nugs. news. >>> new from overnight, philadelphia police are looking into the shooting of a man found dead inside this car in east germantown. it happened on herman street near bayton. investigators tell us the victim, who was in his 20s, was shot in the head just after 2:00 this morning. >>> he is not charged with a crime, but eagles wide receiver nelson agholor is facing sexual assault allegations involving an exotic dancer. the woman accused agholor of assaulting her at cheerleader's gentleman's club in south philadelphia. the eagles acknowledge their 2015 top draft pick is the focus of a police investigation but have not commented further. eagles' defensive lineman connor barwin says he was with agholor at the club for a short time on thursday but doesn't know what happened after he left. here is what we know from police. >> we're just currently going through the investigative process. very early in those stages. so it's going to be quite some time before we move into anything else. >> a

monique braxton is live at the scene this morning gathering new information. monique? >> reporter: there are about a dozen firefighters still here on the scene. they have pulled up their hoses and seen them take this ladder truck six up and down. looks like they are watching, monitoring all the hotq4;, spo going inside nether land apartments as well. this was the scene early this morning. flames and smoke shooting into the sky. the fire shut down several blocks in west philadelphia. more than 100 people fled for their lives. the fire commissioner says part of the roof over the fourth floor collapsed and luckily no one was injured. >> i've been to a number of fires. i've been all over the country. this was one of the most incredible fire stops i've ever seen. so far, no injuries. no fatalities. no injuries to our firefighters. >> reporter: the fire marshal is on scene leading the investigation along with the office of emergency management, alcohol, tobacco firearm and licenses and inspections. as soon as we know what caused this blaze, no doubt we'll have that for you.

monique braxton is live in wilmington where we're hearing from family and community members. monique? >> reporter: that's right. two of these young people you spoke it are at a.i. dupont in stable condition. another two are at christiana, another in critical condition. a grandmother saying her community is in a daze. >> i jumped out of bed, and i ran down because i saw -- i realized that my grandson was outside. >> reporter: darlene van ryper says the gunfire woke her up. her worst fears imagined. her 12-year-old grandson, christian williams, was shot on his right hip and in his foot. >> he was outside with his friends, and they were on their way home. they had just gone to the store. and they were -- they were on their way home. they just got -- mixed up in the crossfire. >> reporter: police tell us this is the fourth shooting in hedgeville since june 10th. we counted more than 15 casing markings left by detectives last night. a doorframe was bent, glass shattered. ralph johnson showed us the blood stains on his boots. he rushed to help the 15-year-old male shot at least thr

nbc 10's monique braxton is live at the home where we've been digging for information since the story broke. >> monique, what did police take from the house today and how do they hope that will help? >> reporter: about three hours ago musical instruments were removed from this home. investigators say the young amish girls have been asking for those instruments. police hope it will make the children feel more at ease to talk. here is video you saw first on nbc 10. the lead investigator led his team back inside 428 old street road this afternoon. a short time later we captured this video of police bringing instruments and easels out of the home. a detective told us the children police believe were home schooled asked for their violins and flutes. when i asked why, investigators say they picked them up because they want to make the girls at the center of this multicounty investigation as comfortable as possible as investigator question them and try to learn more about what was going on inside this house. last week police arrested 51-year-old lee kaplan. when they searched his house they

nbc10's monique braxton is live at temple university hospital in north philadelphia with the latest on his condition and the investigation. good morning, monique. >> reporter: hi, ted. i just got off the phone with detectives. i have learned that at this point two teens have been shot in the same situation. the motive is still unknown. we can tell you that one 17-year-old is here at temple in the emergency room. he is in critical but stable condition. we're going to take you to the scene now. look at this video. detectives say a 17-year-old was shot twice in the back while heading to a graduation party. we've just learned from police that both men were in this situation at germantown and rowan just after 12:30 this morning. a second person, another 17-year-old, was found shot once in the finger. he was taken by a private vehicle to einstein medical center. police say he just appeared at the hospital about 1:30 this morning. police tell us a manhunt is under way for the person who shot both teenagers. live outside temple, monique braxton, nbc10 news. >> thank you. >>> a police officer i

nbc 10's monique braxton is live at police headquarters with these new developments. monique? >> reporter: hi, keith. philadelphia police tell us the southwest philadelphia teen, quintis clark, they believe was trying to rob the victim and got caught in the act. >> if you want a neighbor living next to you, it was joe. >> reporter: yet homicide investigators allege a neighborhood kid killed joseph daly. nbc 10 has learned police believe when 18-year-old quintis clark broke into the back of daly's home, daly caught him. >> he fought back and ultimately he was killed. >> reporter: when police searched the home, they found daly strangled and beaten to death in the living room. his blue van was missing. police now have the van. a warrant has been issued for clark. police say clark killed daly and drove off in the local handyman's work van. >> he was seen getting out of the victim's van. we had a couple l people come forward and put him inside of the house at the time of the murder. >> reporter: police also say the 78-year-old daly had lived in this community for 50 years. he was a

nbc 10's monique braxton is live at police headquarters with the new developments. monique? >> reporter: hi, denise. police tell us the suspect is from southwest philadelphia. he knew the victim. and he was also known by police. >> we actually found his van up in the northeast. as a result of that, we saw some video of one of the doers. >> reporter: homicide detecters knew joseph daley's missing blue van would lead hem to his k killer. this is the man they want, 18-year-old clark. >> he was seen getting out of the victim's van. we had a couple people come forward and put him inside the house at the time of the murder. >> reporter: police also say 78-year-old daley was found dead in a pool of blood last tuesday when officers responded to a wellbeing check. he'd been beaten and strangled here inside his theodore street home. tonight a warrant has been issued for the suspect's arrest. >> he should be considered armed and dangerous. he is known to police. he does have some priors in his background. i believe burglary and some more violent things in his past. so we really want to

monique braxton, nbc 10 news. >>> have you heard about this? a crew is inspecting a philadelphia-bound plane that caught fire at the seattle airport today. investigators for the american airlines plane was on the taxiway and headed for the runway when smoke started pouring from the back of the plane. an airport spokesperson said a spark in a power unit started the small fire. crews quickly put it out. no one was hurt. the 151 passengers were put on another flight to philly. >>> an accident involving a trash truck sent three philadelphia employees to the hospital. sky 4's 10 over the scene this morning. police say the truck swerved to avoid hitting another car at l street. it hit a traffic pole and a mailbox and fence. >>> the case that made national headlines. three residents arrested at the hol dand tunnel last week with a number of guns, pleading not guilty to the weapons charges today. they told police they were going to rescue a 16-year-old girl whose friend had just overdosed on heroin. they found shotguns, handguns, high capacity magazine

monique braxton is following the newest developments in the case. she joins you live from feasterville bucks county. help us with some context to this story. >> reporter: hi, vai. for the fourth straight day crime scene tape surrounds the home here. you can see the tape is up. you can also see a police officer remains on guard in the driveway. investigators tell us the children removed from this home are now in the custody of child protective services and they will be interviewed later today. this is all in preparation for a preliminary hearing where the evidence against kaplan and two other adults will be presented later this month. now the 12 girls removed from this home last week ranged in age from 6 months to 18 years. youngest two are his children by the 18-year-old who was gifted to him by her parents because they were having financial difficulties and he was helping to alleviate that. now on saturday police found evidence of homework, suggesting the children had been home schooled. they also found instruments inside the home in the basement.

. >> let's get right to nbc10's monique braxton. she's live in center city with the latest. fill us in, monique. >> reporter: hi, rosemary. investigators tell us that joseph daly was beaten as well as strangled. tonight they're looking for his van. they think the van is with the killers. homicide detectives want you to take a good look at these pictures. this is joseph daly's missing 2003 ford-150 fan with tag number pd5338z. notice the two rear doors are painted white. they believe the van is with the people who killed daly. >> the suspects broke a rear window and entered the property, killed the longtime home owner, and stole his vehicle. >> police were called to his home at 6349 theodore street yesterday for a well-being check. the 78-year-old man was deceased and lying on the living room floor. police say daly, a neighborhood handy man, had been in this neighborhood for at least# years. now police are also checking into another violent encounter as recent as last week. >> he was assaulted and possibly robbed about a week prior, but he was -- it was not reported to the po

monique braxton talked to her classmates late this afternoon. >> she is joining us from the high school in university city. monique, they must be in shock. >> reporter: oh, the accolades are numerous for akyra murray who is being called a scholar, a leader and a fierce basketball player. >> she was the head that we used to follow in line after her. >> reporter: how long did you play with her? >> oh, this was my first year playing with her. it was a hell of a year, it really was. >> reporter: that's how al alexandra members akyra murray. >> she was the hungry inside of all of us. >> reporter: she graduated from west preparatory high school one week ago and was vacationing in orlando with family and friends when shot and killed at pulse nightclub. her father albert murray posted this frantic message on facebook requesting prayers searching for his daughter. she said, come get me, i've been shot and losing a lot of blood. west catholic's principal said unfortunately the coroner notified akyra's dad. this morning jim gallagher got a call no parent or principal wants to receive. >> you just

nbc 10s monique braxton is live and has been following the action all morning long. >> we could v been watching about 12,000 athletes compete in the triathlon. the first leg, starts just after 6:30. they handed off to a teammate, or dried off and started the cycling competition. this two loop track takes them through fairmont park along mlk and kelly drive. after they wrap up cycling, they return to the transition area which is what you're looking at now to begin the third leg, also known as the 10k run. you see them there in front of you. we were told this is an area you don't want to be in because you might be hit by a bike. >> you see a lot of spectators along the route of the cycling competition. in the next half hour, we're working to bring you more about the run course and we're working to grab an athlete or two. >>> deadly flooding grips west virginia in what is being called a once in 1,000 year event. now god's pit crew is answering the call for relief. and brexit backlash. the new push to stop britain from leaving the european union. one american park is larger than yellowston

monique braxton is live this morning. the athletes are moving around a lot this morning and you are as well. >> it has been amazing to watch, ted. they have just concluded the 1.5 k swimming part of the competition and now the cycling competition is getting under way. they return to this area why i am called the transition area. they dry off a little bit. hop on their bikes, and they're on to compete. the two-loop, 40 k cycling part of the triathlon taken them there fairmont part and also up and down lemon hill. so after they wrap up cycling, they return to the transition area again. the last leg, or the running portion, goes north on mlk. tlen is a turnaround roughly one mile from the run start. then they go south on mlk drive and back to the origination point. not everyone is doing the 10 k run into if you're not you're called an aqua bike competitor. so they're going up a small incline, getting on their bikes, and participating in part two of the triathlon. at 8:00 we'll have more on the running part of this race. >>>

monique braxton is live in fed ford this morning at the church where grimmie and her family attended. >> reporter: soon parishioners will begin arriving here for the 9:00 a.m. service. fellowship alliance is where grimmie and her family attended sunday services. the pastor tells us that they will continue saying prayers for the grimmie family. the 2014 "voice" finalist was cherished by many in south jersey. people dropped off flowers outside her school. at fellowship alliance, members witnessed a video tribute to the singer saturday evening. it's an emotional time for the church family. >> talented, nice, happy person. you don't think something would happen to a person like that. >> her brother had to see that, it's horrifying. >> reporter: grimmie's brother witnessed then tackled the suspect, kevin loibl, after he shot christina. police say loibl had two guns and a knife. loibl committed suicide. the grimmie family relocated to los angeles a couple of years ago. pastors here at the church tell us, when the family returned for visits, christina was always humble, always taking time to

nbc 10's monique braxton is live at the home where we've been digging for information since the story broke. >> monique, what did police take from the house today and how do they hope that will help? >> reporter: about three hours ago musical instruments were removed from this home. investigators say the young amish girls have been asking for those instruments. police hope it will make the children feel more at ease to talk. here is video you saw first on nbc 10. the lead investigator led his team back inside 428 old street road this afternoon. a short time later we captured this video of police bringing instruments and easels out of the home. a detective told us the children police believe were home schooled asked for their violins and flutes. when i asked why, investigators say they picked them up because they want to make the girls at the center of this multicounty investigation as comfortable as ib
