this is a town in mourning, a nation in mourning. all of this has repercussions for politics around europe as well. the murder of jo cox is something that has moved england and certainly something that we want to talk about a lot as well. i want to set the scene for you because we're standing right in front of the makeshift memorial in the place that jo cox was killed. and we've been here for the past three hours. right now it's 8:00 a.m. on a saturday morning. we've been here since 5:00 a.m. we've seen a steady stream of people coming here to this makeshift memorial even now in the early morning hours, laying flowers. many of them just sort of standing in front of that memorial, shaking their heads. of course very much in mourning and in disbelief at what unfolded here on thursday. people bringing their children as well. at the same time, of course, the investigation into this case moves forward as well. the main suspect, thomas mair, is set to appear at westminster magistrates' court later today. we will bring you an update on that

we mourn for mike. there is no doubt he will be missed. but after what i have heard these last few days, we should be celebrating mike's life. i'd like to think that we're not here to remember one tragic day but rather the life of a man that touched so many people, a life that some much older than mike would have been fulfilled and felt fulfilled if they had lived it. john wooden once said, the most important thing in the world is family and love. well, mike must certainly have followed that mantra because he considered his police brothers and sisters family. and combined with his related family, love was most certainly abound. i was fortunate enough to have met recently with some of mike's friends and family. and the more i learned about mike from them, the more i was amazed by his zest for life, sense of humor, his compassion, dedication and strong christian faith. as a friend, mike was loyal and his moral compass was beyond reproach. mike offered a perspective on life that his friends found comforting. mike could give law enforcement ad
