for more about the readiness of the iraqi army, i am joined via skype by ned parker of reuters, who co-wrote the report. give us a lay of the land here. what's the mix between the iraqi army and the militias? who is doing the fighting? >> it's a mic'd bag really. the iraqi army has only five functioning divisions according to u.s. officers and most divisions are about 60 to 65% capacity. so on the ground now, when fighting happens, the iraqi military has basically a shortage of labor. and the one good fighting force that's there, that's effective from the state, is the iraqi special forces. and according to u.s. officers, those forces are in real danger of burning out because they are the only force the state has been able to rely upon time and time again over the last two years. so the other force fighting alongside the special forces are militia groups that many of them are funded by iran, they have hard line sectarian ideology and have been deeply controversial. on the ground, what happens is many places north of baghdad in areas like tikrit or beiji that have been taken by israel forces,

patients carter went with her friend akyra murray and tiara parker. paul were shot. mur hoy just graduated from west catholic high school was kill. eye witt the necessary news reporter justin finch is live there holding a vigil tonight in murray's memory, justin. >> reporter: nicole, good morning. patients carter spoke from orlando where she's still recovering. and a week ago murray's family was here at west catholic celebrate herring graduation and today the school will host a vigil for her. >> i never thought in a million year my eyes could witness something so tragic. >> reporter: putting her pain to paper, patients carter recount those agonizing hours she and her friends and strangers spent together packed inside that pulse nightclub rest room. what for some would be their final moments alive. >> his we went from having the time of our lives to the worse moment in minutes. >> reporter: carter, her friend tea ara parker and her cousin, akyra mur write on vacation in orlando, a night at pulse was to be a highlight. hours later this were cramped together inside a ba

carter went to the club with friends akyra murray and tiara parker. carter and murray fled when the shooting started, but went back in after realizing that parker was still inside. all three wound up huddled in the bathroom. murray was killed. >> the gunman entered the bathroom and was shooting his machine gun. so we're all, like, scrambling around in the bathroom screaming at the top of our lungs. you know, people are getting hit by bullets. like, blood is everywhere. and then there was a moment where he stopped, and that's when i first realized that my leg was shot. there were several other people shot and bleeding in the bathroom. that's when akyra, who didn't make it, realized she was shot in her arm, and i'm not sure if that was when tiara also got shot in her side, but we were all pretty bad. and throughout that period of hours, the gunman was in there with us, and he actually made a call to 911 from there, saying that the reason why he's doing this is because he wants america to stop bombing his country. and from that conversation, from 911, he
